Wayne Ward, age 77, of Bella Vista, Arkansas formerly of Gassville, Arkansas passed away Monday, March 24, 2104, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born July 6, 1936, in Bee Branch, Arkansas to Chester and Esther (Hutchens) Ward.
Mr. Ward married Carol Russell June 23, 1956, in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the former owner/operator of Wayne's Food in Gassville, Arkansas. He is a member of the Village Baptist Church and a former member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife: Carol Ward of Bella Vista, Arkansas, two daughters: Robbie Reeves and husband David of Sherwood, Arkansas and DeDee Phillips and husband Dale of Bella Vista, Arkansas, a sister: Elaine Griffin and husband James of Damascus, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas with Brother Bill Bowen officiating. A visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Village Baptist Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Gassville City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Village Baptist Church.

Carol, I was so sorry to hear about Wayne. You cannot begin to know how often we talked about both of you and remembered how important you were in our lives. He was one of the sweetest, kindness men I've ever known. Rick still calls you Uncle Wayne and Aunt Carol, because you are truly like family to us all. God bless you. Carol, Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Wayne and Elaine have always been "special" cousins to us. My Dearest Carol,
My heart is breaking for you and your family. Wayne was one of the best men I have had the pleasure to call my friend. He was always so kind, generous and loving. My late Grandparents, Cliff and Irene Staples lived next door to the store. I spent a lot of time in the store talking with him and helping with chores. He always made me feel welcome and important. I was just a kid, but I remember that as if it were yesterday. I will carry him in my heart forever. He was always so proud of you and the girls. He beamed every time you walked into sight. We were the younger cousins of Wayne but they always made us feel so loved and special. We were equally delighted when Carol joined our families.
