Grandle Gene Lair, age 74, of Harrison died Thursday, Feb. 6 (2014) at Apple Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Harrison. Gene was born Jan. 29, 1940, in Everton, the first of two sons born to Joe Herbert and Irene Dees Lair. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tommi Gina Suzette Lair; the mother of five children, Vivian Ann Arnold Lair; as well as his parents.

He was a successful businessman, pursuing a career in real estate and later as a successful pilot. He was known by his smile. He loved people and making everyone laugh.

He is survived by five children: Monty Lair and his children Suzette, Michael and Joe; Robin Lair and her children Charlie, Jasmine and Samuel Quinn and great-grandson Kreedence; Marji Williams and son Zane; Julieanne W. Lair and children, Alex, Elizabeth and Nathan; and Karen Lair and daughter, Shelly; a brother, Herb Lair; as well as a host of relatives and dear friends.


Funeral service was Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Visitation was Friday, February 7, 2014, at the funeral home.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers included the staff at Apple Ridge Nursing and Rehab.
