William R. (Bill) Ingram, age 88, of Harrison, went to be with his Eternal Father, Wednesday, February 5, 2014. He was born January 18, 1926, in Harrison, the son Paul N. and Miranda Bell (Pottenger) Ingram.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; previous wife, Rose Mae Roberts; his brother, Robert P. Ingram; one sister-in-law; and one step-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Starkey Ingram, of the home; one sister, Betty Ingram Ferguson, of Houston, TX; three sisters-in-law, Clara Ingram of Nixa, MO, Ora Russell of Baton Rouge, LA, and Eva Sansing of Harrison, AR; four step-sons and their wives, Gary and Brenda Roberts and Ronnie and Sherry Roberts of Harrison, Roger and Debbie Roberts of Rudd, AR and Roger Wagner of Jonesboro, AR; one step-daughter and her husband, Tamra and Bill Huber, of Omaha, NE; 14 step-grandchildren, 18 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will all miss him very much.
Bill was a life resident of Harrison with the exception of joining the US Navy in March of 1943. He was a Veteran of WWII and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946. Bill served on the USS Collins transport ship during his enlistment.
Bill was a man of faith, having attended Highland Wesleyan Church for many years before becoming an active member at CrossRoads Community Church. He developed many caring friendships there from people who looked up to him for his faith and untiring devotion to his Lord and family.
Bill retired after 36 years with AP&L/Entergy on March 3, 1983. He immediately went to work for the US Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 10 years. Bill enjoyed saw sharpening and he ran that business from his home. The hobby Bill enjoyed the most was pheasant hunting with his dog in Nebraska. Bill also had a Dalmatian named Molly, which he loved. Bill enjoyed traveling all over the states and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Services were Saturday, February 8, 2014, at the CrossRoads Community Church with Rev. Johnny Walters and Rev Dale Menefee speaking.
Burial was in White Oak Cemetery following the services.
Visitation was Friday, February 7, 2014, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jerry Pursifull, Carl Roberts, Shannon Garvin, Brent Roberts, Roger Wagner and Eric Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers were Gregg Roberts, Billy Huber, retirees of AP&L/Entergy, the Life Lessons Sunday School Class, Dr. Kevin Jackson, staff of Cross Roads Medical, Amanda Chitsey and the staff and caregivers of Hillcrest Home who so wonderfully cared for him and the family since last July.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to the Hospice of the Hills House, 501 East Sherman, Harrison, AR 72601 or the CrossRoads Community Church building fund, 2658 Old Bergman Road, Harrison, AR 72601.
To all the family we always enjoyed our meals and drives and visits with Bill. He was a great friend. We pray for your comfort at this time.

We are so sorry for your loss. Bill was a wonderful man and I really enjoyed listening to his stories. I feel privileged for the few times I got to cut his hair. He will be greatly missed by all whose life he touched. May God take you in His arms and give you comfort in your time of grief. Love you Mary Ruth.
