Monte Dwayne Avery, 72 of Locust Grove, Arkansas passed away December 19, 2013 at Batesville, Arkansas. He was born May 27, 1941 to Wiburn Jackson and Lillian Avery at Fort Smith, Arkansas. Monte was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a business owner, a musician, and a fiddle marker.
He is survived by his beloved friend, Ruth Gill; one daughter, Teresa Rainwater; grandchildren; six nephews, Daryl Darden, Melton Darden, Mickey Darden, Terry Avery, Steven Avery, and Keith Avery; one niece, Sonja Knapple, and a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn and Lillian Avery, one sister, Jackie Reeves, and one brother, Vendall Avery.
Visitation will be Monday, December 23, 2013 from 12:30-2 pm at Roller Coffman Chapel. Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday, December 23, 2013 at Roller Coffman Chapel with Brother Gary Don Fletcher officiating. Pallbearers are Bruce Stevens, Mark Branscum, Dwight Johnson, Kent Gibson, Tim Winningham, and Richard Hubberd. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Forte, Ronnie Ajax, David Gjestvang, Butch Swain.
Roller Coffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I knew Monte for a few years in Fayetteville. He was mostly my husband's friend but I always enjoyed his company and music. He was very private so there was never any boasting from Monte. I have been thinking of him a lot even though he passed 7 years ago. I considered him a good friend. Wish I could have stayed in touch with him.

Dear Ruthie, I just found out today about Monte's passing. I am so sorry I'm so tardy in getting in touch with you...I feel really bad. I can only pray God give you his peace concerning Monte's passing. After Ernie's death the Holy Spirit spoke to me and said ....by the way I let you have him 25 years....then it occurred to me that was right praise God I had him as long as I did...so praise the Lord you had Monte the years you did.

So sorry about the passing of my longtime friend and employer. I will forever be indebted to Monte for the wisdom and knowledge he shared with me over the years and I pray that someday we will meet again. I'm sure heaven has a place reserved for you and your fiddle in that great heavenly band. Rest in peace my old friend.
