Rutherford "Rudy" Watkins, age 92, of Harrison, died Friday, October 25, 2013, at Bristol Pointe Nursing and Rehab in Harrison. Mr. Watkins was born August 4, 1922, at Snowball, Arkansas, the son of Henry and Minnie Elizabeth (McCutcheon) Watkins.
Services were Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. . Rev. Bill Daniels from Oklahoma will be speaking.
Burial was in Whisenant Cemetery near Snowball after the service.
Visitation was Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Michael Watkins, Kreg Daniels, Landon Watkins, Tyler Daniels, Trace Daniels and Steve Paul.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Klepper, Amanda Chitsey and the caregivers at Bristol Pointe.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alma (Manes) Watkins, three brothers and three sisters.
Rudy is survived by one son, Gary and wife Sarah Watkins; one daughter, Glenda and husband Woody Daniels; four grandchildren, Michael Watkins, Kreg Daniels, Karen Day and Landon Watkins; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lee Ann Renfroe and Veleda Tyner; and a host of other family and friends.
Rudy was a member of the Abundant Life Church of Western Grove. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II, stationed on the island of New Caledonia, 750 miles east of Australia. Rudy worked as a meat cutter most of his life and loved being a farmer. Mr. Watkins served his Lord, his country and his family with dignity and integrity.
A fine gentleman has passed. So sorry for your loss.

I have many happy memories of your Mom and Dad. Our families have always been close, and I am sorry those days past by so quickly. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
So sorry for your loss of your beloved dad. He was a great man. He was a part of my life when my mom, Wilma, started working with in the Meat departmen many years ago. Since i married and moved the Witts Springs area, whenever I would see him, he would always asked if i had seen Uncle Leon . He will be missed. There was no friendlier person.

We have many memories of Rudy but one of my favorite is when I hear the song "I'll Fly Away" I always think of him. I think he did just that. He sure was a good christian man. May God comfort you with this thought. Love & prayers.

So Sorry for you loss. Our Mother worked down with Rudy at Town and Country. I remember going into the store at lunch hour and after school..He always had a smile on his face. He was a sweet man to know.
