Doris Ruth Metcalf, age 85, of Harrison, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013, at her home. She was born January 3, 1928, in Dunbar, Oklahoma, the daughter of Wade & Nellie (Cunningham) Gentry. Along with her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William D. Metcalf; and her son, Roger Metcalf.
Doris was a homemaker. She married William Metcalf September 15, 1945 in Adona, Arkansas. She had been a prior resident of Winston and Dillard, Oregon and Conway, Arkansas. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted wife.
Doris is survived by her sons, Brian Metcalf of Roseburg, Oregon and Bill Metcalf of Riddle, Oregon; her daughters, Brenda Shockey of Hemphill, Texas and Kathy Simon of Harrison; her sister, Vereta Church, of Roseburg, Oregon; her brother, Wayland Gentry, of Sutherlin, Oregon; fourteen grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Visitation was Friday, July 19, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
Funeral service was Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Jerry Farmer officiating.
Interment was in Mary Mother of God Cemetery, Harrison, AR.
Pallbearers were Stubby Hanberg, Lyndsy Simon, Willy Barnhart, Nick Stone, Justin Barnhart, and Tyler Woods

Sorry to hear about your Mom, I know that she is truly going to be missed. She has been with Kathy, Daniel, and family for so many years. One could not have asked for a more wonderful and loving Mother-in-law than Doris. Even though she has moved on, she will live every day in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know and love her.
