Wilma "Wink" Inez Martin

of Harrison, AR

June 20, 1924 - May 1, 2013

Wilma Inez Martin, age 88, of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her home. She was born June 20, 1924, in Wildersville, Tennessee, the daughter of Euphrates & Ora (Hays) Lewis. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Eugene Charles Martin.

Wilma met and married her late husband, Gene Martin, while both were living and working in Japan. They traveled and lived in many places before settling in Harrison in the 1960s. Wilma, nicknamed ''Wink'' by her siblings, loved her family above all else. Wilma worked for Farmers Home Administration as an executive assistant. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was a wonderful mother and mother-in-law to her daughter Patty Harness, Patty's husband Roger, her son, Butch Martin, and Butch's wife Vicki. That great love of family extended to her grandchildren, Jennifer Martin, Christine Hartman, Beth Crenshaw and Justin Harness; her eleven great-grandchildren and one expected great-great-grandchild.

Wilma loved crossword puzzles, gardening, the St. Louis Cardinals, college basketball and a good game of cribbage. She was a woman of great strength and perseverance. Her family has learned much from her. REST IN PEACE ''WINK''.

NO VISITATION. Funeral service was Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bro. Glenn Crenshaw officiating.

Pallbearers were Pete Hartman, Mark Crenshaw, Justin Harness, Tony Rodewald, Roger Harness and Roger Magness.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hospice of the Hills and Dr. Rebecca Simon and her staff.

Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Many thoughts and prayers are going your way from my family. My mother Alice Young lived next door to Wilma and she enjoyed spending time visiting with her and going to my niece and nephew's ballgames with her. I'm sure in time, you all will remember all the good times and memories we have of such special parents.

Dearest Patty, Roger, Butch, Vicki and family,
Your Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma will always be with you....in your heart, in your memories, and in all the loving ways she touched each one of your lives. Someday...not now, and perhaps not for a long while, you'll remember her with less sadness and more joy. But for today, know that many people, including us, care about you, understand your sadness and loss, and pray for our Lord to give you moments of peace as He comforts you. God Bless all of you.
