Shara Collie Adams, age 86, recently of Harrison, Arkansas, left to rendezvous with her husband, "Wild Bill" Adams, Friday, March 15, 2013. They are now dancing together once again. Shara was born January 6, 1927, in Deland, Florida, and grew up in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Vera (Alexander) Collie; her husband; and her brother, David Baumgardner.

She graduated from Malvern High School in 1944 and later studied at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She married William B. Adams of Malvern in 1950. Shara lived with her family in Syracuse, New York and Palos Verdes, California before returning to Harrison in 1987.

Shara was Miss Malvern in the 1945 Miss Arkansas pageant. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she was known to break into song at any opportunity and was often a church soloist in the communities in which she lived. A gourmet chef, she loved to spread joy wherever she could. Shara enjoyed reading murder mysteries, the New Yorker magazine, working the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, flower gardening, and helping others were some of her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by four children, Emily Adams (Carmen Arick) of Little Rock; William Adams of Miami, FL; Stuart Adams of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and Sara Schell and husband Rick of Nashville, TN; her cousin, Sara Rankin, of Harrison; her honorary son, Pavel Almaguer, of Ft. Lauderdale; two nieces and a nephew; and a host of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Graveside services was Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Rose Hill Cemetery, Harrison.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Harrison, AR, or Hospice of the Hills, Harrison.
