Earl E. Brisco

of Compton, AR

December 1, 1916 - March 17, 2013

Earl E. Brisco age 96, went to be with his family March 17, 2013. Mr. Brisco was born December 1, 1916, at Erbie, the son of Berry and Fannie (Reavis) Brisco. Mr. Brisco was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son; 3 sisters, Bessie Barton, Thelma Glidewell, and Verna Carpenter; an infant brother and brother, Herbert Brisco.

Earl married Bernice Sims December 27, 1944, and they were married 14 days short of their 46th anniversary when she was called home. Mr. Brisco worked as a laborer in the orchards in Oregon for 20 years, as so many families from this area followed the harvest. He was an electrician and logged and cut stave bolts. He loved to farm and was a ranch hand for Ed Henderson from 1978 to 2010 when he finally had to quit due to health. I think it is fair to say that he had a work ethic that kept him working many years after most men would have quit. Earl loved his family unconditionally but he had a bond with his nephews through the years, whether it was working or hunting and camping, that was truly special. Earl loved his time as caretaker at Plumlee Cemetery where he dedicated 30 years helping.

Mr. Brisco is survived by three daughters, Thelma Rose of Harrison, Elesha and Holden FitzGerald of Omaha, and Benita Ake and husband Jac of Harrison; two sisters, Elvie Sims and Imogene Chester; one brother, Marion Brisco; five grandchildren, Samantha Rose, Jessica Rose, Crystal Sisco, Johnathan Popejoy and Cleyton Ake; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Rose, McKenna Braswell, Harlequin Popejoy and Gavin Sisco; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family. Earl's time in the nursing home was spent developing a lasting friendship with a roommate, Ken Standfield, who helped Earl pass the time with stories and lifetime experiences.

Visitation was Wednesday, at Roller-Christeson. Services were Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Brisco, Arthur L. Sims, and Ronnie Paul speaking. Burial was in Plumlee Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to the Hospice of the Hills House, 501 E. Sherman, Harrison, AR 72601 or the Plumlee Cemetery Fund.

Earl was an interesting man and we enjoyed the times he spent at camp here on the mountain. When I knew he was coming I made peach strusel for him as he was very fond of it.
We will remember him fondly.
