I had many, many great times in my life with Uncle Bubby and Aunt Cleta. I shared yesterday with Cleta how I got to eat my first Big Mac burger when they took me and Jackie with them to Springfield to the old Cardin’s salvage store. We went to the McDonalds on the north side of Springfield and had a Big Mac. John Abe would haul us kids to the creek almost every evening during the summer in the blue 69 Chevy truck. He got us on the other side of the swimming hole in East Sugarloaf and basically through us in. We had to learn to swim, right then. He taught me to swim, more or less. He would take us to Bear Creek out on Hwy 14 too. I sat in my first bass boat, his old aluminum V bottom that he stored in the shed attached to the red barn. Us boys would pretend we were out on the lake fishing. I played my first game of pool when he enclosed the carport, built the pool room and got a pool table. We played so many games of pool there. Oh how he loved baseball. He loved to play. He loved to watch on TV. But his biggest love of baseball was watching his kids and grandkids play! We will all miss him. Love and prayers to Cleta, Abe, Dickey and all the family.
