John Stovall Jr., 86 of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 7, 1926 to his parents John W. and Bertha (Burnett) Stovall. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served as a Deacon at Johnson Freewill Baptist Church in Dublin. John loved to hunt, fish and farm. He had a great love for his family but most of all he loved God and doing God's work.

John is preceded in death by his parents John and Bertha Stovall and ten brothers and sisters.

John is survived by his wife of 59 years Betty Stovall of the home; one daughter Rita Athey of Scranton, Arkansas; one son Tom Stovall of Elkins, Arkansas; four sisters, Lois R. Johnson of Scranton, Arkansas, Hettie Sanders of Walnut Hill, Florida, Evelyn Stills of Scranton, Arkansas and Henrietta Scott of Lavaca, Arkansas; two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Johnson Freewill Baptist Church in Dublin officiated by Rev. Jimmy Williams and Rev. Herb Tilley. Burial will be in Wares Chapel Cemetery near Dublin with Military Honors under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Pallbearers will be Chris Stovall, Jeff Boland, Alton Roper, Greg Roper, Mark Koenigseder and Richard Fox.

So sorry to hear about the death of Jr. He lived a long good life and left a lot of memories for family and friends. You are in my prayers during this difficult time.

I will always remember Bro. Junior sitting in his spot on the front row of the church. He was always there. If we got to church and he wasn't there we would instantly be worried that something was wrong, but sister Betty would assure us that he was just doing something with the cattle and would be along shortly and he would be soon. I will always remember that. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers and I love you all.

Aunt Betty , Rita , and Tommy my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time . I love you all so much. Uncle Junior was always so sweet and kind to me I always look forward to seeing him and his smiles and hugs and every time I saw him he would always tell me how pretty I was and made me feel good about myself .
