James Arnold Hughes, 80, of Batesville, died Friday at a hospital in Little Rock.
Born April 8, 1931 in Oil Trough, he was the son of Ruby H. and Dorthy Mildred Hughes. He retired from ConAgra Frozen Foods. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie E (Voyles) Hughes of the home; two sons Michael Hughes of Shelbyville, Indiana and Steven Hughes of Phoenix, Arizona; a step-daughter, Freda Loseman of Southside; and a sister Patsy Henderson of Glendale, Arizona; three step-grandchildren: Judy Loseman of Southside, Valerie Westmoreland of McComb, Mississippi and J. Blaine Martin of Belmont, Mississippi; eleven grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Winona Thompson and Willie St. John; a step-son: Jerry B. Martin and a step-grandson, Jerry B. Martin, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Dimmick Bymaster, Curtis Sipe, Kevin Schertz, Mark Carlson, J. Blaine Martin and Joshua Westmoreland
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at White Drive Baptist Church with Adam Longo officiating. Burial will be at Maple Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
