Arvil C. Wilson, former resident of Stone County and recently of Gassville, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the age of 92 years, 2 months and 23 days.

Arvil was born on October 13, 1918, the eldest son of Cranford and Dora Tilley Wilson at Onia. He grew up in the Onia area and married Verna Fletcher on July 6, 1940. To this union two daughters were born, Joy and Nola. Verna preceded him in death on March 27, 1964.

As a young man, Arvil accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a life-long member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church of Onia.

Arvil was a farmer in the Onia area and was one of the first strawberry growers in Stone County. Arvil lived in Ponca City, Oklahoma for several years and during this time he attended barber school in Tulsa, Oklahoma and became a barber.

He returned to Timbo area and married Norma Green Passmore of Alco on September 6, 1977. He purchased a barbershop in Marshall and worked there until his retirement. Norma preceded him in death on September 16, 2001. Following her death, he moved to the Gassville area to be near his daughter.

He was preceded in death by both wives, his parents, one sister, Verda Gammill; two baby sisters, Berva and Della; one sister-in-law, Alma Wilson; three brothers-in-law, Z.L. Gammill, Leon Morrison and Bob Hazen.

He is survived by his daughters, Joy and Ron Havens of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Nola and Charles Treat of Gassville, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Laura Arrington, Robin Biddle, Shonda Litty and Michael Treat; eight great-grandchildren, Ricky Nelson, Leah Biddle, Levi Biddle, Caroline Litty, Brad Litty, Noah Marquez, Myca Treat and Myia Treat; five great-great-grandchildren, Corinne, Bailey, Taryn and Charlie Rae Nelson and Grant Crowell. He is also survived by three brothers, Olen Wilson of Timbo, Una Wilson of Mountain Home and J.C. Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri; three sisters, Irene Hazen of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Florene Morrison of Mountain View and Imogene Williams of Timbo; one brother-in-law, Coy Gammill of Timbo and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be available to greet visitors at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Roller Coffman Chapel, Mtn. View.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Roller Coffman Chapel, Mtn. View with Bro. Luther Branscum officiating and interment in Pordue Cemetery in Onia.

Pallbearers are Steve Litty, Levi Biddle, Michael Treat, Kevin Arrington, Randall Wilson and Jerry Wilson.
