Samantha Blair King

of Marion, AR

December 18, 1980 - October 16, 2018

Samantha Blair King, age 37, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN. Samantha was born December 18, 1980 in Helena AR. to Joe Earl Blair and Lyn Pruitt Blair.

She was a 1999 graduate of Marion High School and earned her associates degree in Dental Hygiene in 2009. She married Scebo King on May 24, 2004, in Cancun Mexico. She worked as a dental hygienist for Dr Michael Williams DDS in Blytheville, AR. Samantha loved her husband and family unconditionally. But she literally lived for their son and loved being a mom to him as he grew in to the fine young man, she knew he would be. She had an intoxicating smile and loved to show it. Her laugh was contagious as well as her bubbly and outgoing personality that so many grew addicted to. Sam was one of a kind. She was one of those you just wanted to be around. A truly real and beautiful person inside and out who touched the hearts of many. Though tiny in stature, her courage, her strength and her will to live, was much larger than any would expect. Samantha was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in July 2016. And for over two years fought as hard as anyone could imagine and against all odds in which she earned the title ''The Angel of 5 South'' by the nursing staff who treated her. She passed peacefully with just her husband present and holding her as she took her last breath.

She is survived by her husband Scebo King, son Tanner King, her father Joe Blair and her sister Tabitha Strieder, all of Marion, Arkansas. Her Grandmother Polly Pruitt of West Memphis Arkansas, 1 niece 2 nephews and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother Lyn Pruitt Blair.

I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how you must feel. I have personally found comfort in scriptures like Job 14:14,15 which remind me that God cares so deeply for us that he yearns for the day when he will bring us back to life (John 5:28, 29). I hope that these words bring you comfort as well. If you wish, you may contact me to learn about the resurrection hope found in The Bible.

Although I never personally met Sam, I was a friend of her Mom's. While Lyn was sick Sam and Tabitha kept me in the loop on how she was doing and I am very thankful for that. I have lifted Sam up in prayer this entire journey and now I continue to lift her family up in prayer for peace and understanding. Like so many, we all see Lyn in Sam, and I know this world has one less precious angel on it, but we all know those heavenly wings will shine and she will continue to watch down on those she loved. Remember, just as Lyn lives in each of your hearts, your heart just got bigger cause Sam is there as well. Prayers and love to the entire family.

I will always remember Sam and her infectious laugh. Even after all these years, I can still hear it. While we were not friends after high school, I can say with certainty that she was one of the friendliest persons I have ever encountered. One memory from high school that brings me a smile is her complete joy when she got her green Eclipse. She was on cloud nine! It’s memories that keeps her alive in our hearts. I send my prayers and condolences to her family and hope that hearing those memories brings comfort and smiles to your faces.

Joe and Tabitha, our heart breaks for you. Sam was a lot like her father about not meeting a stranger. She was a very caring person and she loved life. Living down the street from all of you watching Sam and Tabitha finish growing up. Then making their own way in life was special. I hope that in the weeks and months to come that your memories help you through . May God wrap his arms around all of you. Just remember we are here for you. Rest In Peace our sweet Sam.

My deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time. God hates to see us suffer, and He is deeply saddened by the death of his people. Isaiah 63:9 tells us that our distress is distressing to Him. It is comforting to know that God feels for us when we suffer. The Bible tells us what God is going to do in the future - Revelation 21:4 says that "He will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and death will be no more." God also promises in Acts 24:15 that "there will be a resurrection." Soon, you will see your loved one again, and under the hand of God, no one will suffer or die ever again. Until then, take comfort in the scripture's promises of a good future for mankind.

When I met Sam years ago, I had no idea at that time that she was the youngest daughter of Lyn, a good friend I grew up with and reconnected with. Sam worked for my dentist, and had the biggest personality I've ever seen! Always happy and smiling! I know she was so much like her mom, a fighter til the end. My heart breaks so much for all of you, as she was such a special person to so many.
My continued love and prayers for you all as you find your way through this difficult journey.
