Amal N. Olaimey, 81, of Little Rock passed away October 14, 2018. He was born November 14, 1936 in Nazareth, Palestine. Amal left Nazareth for America as a young man of 20 to pursue his education. He discovered America on August 22, 1957 with $10.00 in his pocket, a heart full of dreams and a commitment to honor his family. Amal graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1961. He began post-graduate studies at Vanderbilt University, but returned to Arkansas where he earned a MS in Microbiology at the University of Arkansas. He then went on to earn his medical degree at UAMS, Little Rock in 1971. He became a U.S. Citizen the same year.

He spent the last 20 years of his career serving as an ER doctor throughout Arkansas. Dr. Olaimey delivered over 1.500 babies over the course of his career and touched thousands of lives with his generosity and kindness. He believed strongly in education and many times over helped students with their tuition, as he was helped as a young student. He loved international travel as a younger man and later in his retirement years loved traveling the country in his motorhome.

Dr. Olaimey was a man of strong faith. He was a member of the Nazareth Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. He felt that his greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He loved his role as Sedo (grandfather) to his six grandchildren.

Dr. Olaimey was preceded in death by his parents; Nimer and Selma Salem Olaimey and brother; Habib Olaimey. He is survived by his wife; Sue Harshaw Olaimey, children; Maggie Jones (Chuck) of Alexandria, Virginia, John Olaimey (Timothy Ann) of Little Rock, Arkansas, Anne Olaimey of Chicago, Illinois, Thomas Olaimey of Fayetteville, Arkansas, six grandchildren; Thompson, Reynolds, Collins, Evans, Powell and Aspen Olaimey all of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Dr. Olaimey delivered my 3 birth children, he was our family doctor until he left Camden. I went to work with him at Ouachita Co. Hospital. Everyone loved Dr. Olaimey. When my 3 rd child was about to be born there was sleet and snow; he called my husband to come pick him up at his house. We both left the hospital to pick him up and bring him to the hospital to deliver our baby. I have so many memories of him
.My trusted doctor, and my good friend. I have missed him thru the last few years. He will be missed and remembered.Truely a wonderdul man.

The loss of a loved one can grieve the heart and make us yearn for the time when Jehovah keeps the promise that he made at [Revelations 21:4] when there will be no more tears, nor pain and no more death.

May these words comfort you at this time.

I had the honor of working with Dr. Olaimey at the ED in Morrilton. He was kind, generous, a pleasure to work with. He had a wealth of knowledge not only about medicine but about life in general and he willingly shared it. I am a better person, better healthcare provider for having known and worked with him. Until with meet again, my friend.

So sorry for your lost. Sending prayers for your family. I worked with Dr olaimey for about 5 yes in the ER Dept in Clinton, ar. He was such a kind and caring man and doctor. He treated us all with respect and had the best bedside manner. You can't find doctor's like this much any more. He would always bring us all snacks and coffee and ice cream. Me and my family has had dinner with him and Sue on occasion. And had visited his home throughput the building process. We all loved him so much. He taught me alot about work and how to be a good person and to be compassionate and kind. Rest in peace my dear doc until we meet again... Mollie Warner ER nurse Ozark health...
