Curtis Stokes, 84, of Brookland, passed away Friday, September 28, 2018, at his home. He was born May 1, 1934, at Etowah to Charles ''Bud'' & Addie Bell (Gregory) Stokes.
Mr. Stokes retired as area foreman for the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department after 28 years. He was a member of Stoneridge Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Len Stokes, Garland Stokes, and Wayne Stokes; and five sisters, Wilma Beagle, Dathel Corpier, Erma Davis, Lily Agnes Stokes, and Jurlene Little.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley (Southard) Stokes; two daughters, Sharon (Teddy) Horton and Karon (J.W.) Doyle; two sisters, Mima Rae Vines and Ann Wolford; two grandchildren, Holly Flanagan and Amanda ''Mandy'' Horton; two step-grandchildren, Brad Doyle and April Tate; and three great-grandchildren, Zoey Doyle, Avery Tate, and Sadie Grace Tate.
Funeral services will be at 3:00PM, Monday, October 1, 2018, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington, Jonesboro, with Dick Blackford officiating. There will be a visitation from 2:00PM until time of service.
Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery at Brookland. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Little, Roger Vines, Gary Stokes, Charles Corpier, Dennie Stokes, and Randy Stokes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Southard, Donald Wagner, Granville Guest, Jack Davis, Joe Warren, and John Porter.
