of West Memphis, AR
February 7, 1940 - September 22, 2018
Russell Lavern Wells, better known by his friends as Lavern, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the age of 78. Lavern was born February 7, 1940 in Senatobia, Mississippi to parents Edd Earl and Genevieve Wells. He leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Linda Wells. He was a dedicated salesman for the Steepleton Tire Company in Memphis for over 40 years. Most of all, Lavern was the greatest husband and father anyone could ever hope to have. He was a member of the West Memphis First Methodist Church.
Besides his loving wife Linda, he also leaves behind three daughters; Alisha Briggler (Keith) of Conway, Arkansas, Amy Henderson (Dale) and Missy Bius (Steven) all of Marion, Arkansas. He will be dearly missed and his memory cherished forever by eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Billy N. Wells, Benny L. Wells, Robert E. Wells and a sister, Katherine Mayo. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to your nearest Humane Society.
While saddened by Uncle Lavern’s passing I can only image how happy my mom, Kathryn Wells Smith, was when she saw her baby brother when he entered heaven. Lavern was my favorite uncle, he was always dressed sharp and always had a nice car.
He was very comforting to me at my fathers funeral some 28 years ago. Take comfort in knowing his legacy will live on in his family that he loved so much.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".
I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Lavern's passing. I have not seen him since my Mom (Kathryn Wells Smith) funeral, but I remember him well. Always a smile on his face. My heart and prayers go out to all his children. He was the last on my Well's side and I'm sad to see him go. Judy
I would like to send my condolence's to Lavern's family on his passing. I am from the class of 1959 and knew him as a kind and always friendly person. I was on the girls basketball team and being Lavern was tall he played ball too. We all had a great time. The bus rides to and from the games were hilarious. Back then our class of 59 was less then 100 kids so we all knew one another. Some scriptures that have brought me comfort when I have lost a love one or friend in death: Revelation 21: 3 & 4 here God promises there will come a time when death, sickness and pain will be no more all these things will have passed away. Psalm 29: 37 The righteous will posses the earth and live forever on it. Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18 New World Translation and King James Psalm 83:18) makes this all come about thru his Kingdom Rule in the hands of his son Jesus Christ which we all pray for at Mathew 6 9 & 10, Let your name be Sanctified, Let your Kingdom Come, Let your will take place as in Heaven also on Earth. This will be the Hope for all mankind. We all of this 59 class have some great memories of our time at West Memphis High. My prayer's are with you all.
Linda, so sorry for the loss of your loving husband, praying that God send his angels to comfort you in the days to come,
