Charles Loren Brown, 83, of Lamar, AR, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 in Russellville, AR. Charles was born January 12, 1935 in Lamar, AR to Charley and Ocie Mae (Hankins) Brown. Charles enjoyed reading the Bible, and during his lifetime he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Charles was most recently a member of Knoxville First Baptist Church. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force. His strong work ethic and many skills led him to various occupations including commercial fisherman, printer, factory worker, carpet layer, store manager, and dozer operator for the forestry commission. He retired from the Dana Corporation in Russellville in 2000. Charles enjoyed long road trips and seeing the old west landscapes he would read about in western novels. He also enjoyed old trains and steam engines. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charles will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.
Charles is survived by his wife Marilyn (Hutchins) Brown of Lamar, AR; son Keith (Susan) Brown of Hagarville, AR; two daughters Lisa (Richard) Dawson of London, AR and Cherie (Dan) Roe of Russellville, AR; grandchildren Christy (Bobby) Parsons, Chuck (Danielle) Brown, Matt (Stephanie) Brown, Sarah (Bradley) Stewart, James (Morgan) Roe, Jordan (Jennifer) Roe; nine great-grandchildren Ryan, Emelie, Levi, Charleigh, Jude, Collin, Raylen, Lyla, and Noah; two brothers Paul (Norma) Brown of Wichita, KS and Edward (Sue) Brown of Lamar, AR; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends throughout the community.
Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 PM Friday, September 21, 2018 at Roller Cox Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Knoxville First Baptist Church with Bro. Dale Walker and Bro. Richard Snyder officiating.
