Frank Augustus Graves
August 9, 1927 - December 3, 2005

   Frank Augustus Graves, age 78, of Little Rock died Saturday, December 3, 2005.  Born August 9, 1927 in Little Rock, he was the son of the late George and Dorthea Graves and the grandson of the late A. J. and Bess Graves. He was a United States Veteran of the Korean War, where he received a United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and a National Defense Service Metal.  After being honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1955, he went to work as a Deputy Sheriff in Pulaski County.    In 1962 he started with the Alcohol Beverage Control Board as an Enforcement Officer.  He retired in 1987 as the Assistant Director after over 38 years in law enforcement.  He was also a lifetime member and past president of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Officers Association. He was a member of Western Star Lodge Masonic Lodge #2.

    He spent 42 years in youth baseball programs beginning with the Rosedale Optimist Club and Little Rock Boys Club.  He became the Director of Junior Deputy Sheriffs and Little League for which he was responsible for starting in Little Rock.

    In 1947 he coached the Arkansas AAU Little Rock Boys Club Girls’s Basketball State Championship team.

    He was elected to the position of Constable, Big Rock Township in 1990 and continued to be re-elected and serve until his death.

    He loved baseball, bowling, golf and his loving dog Bru.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie Spisler Graves.

    He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson Bowerman Graves; a daughter, Betty Lynn Graves.

    The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

    The family will receive friends at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501-224-8300) from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday.
