Jacquelyn Fowler

of Sherwood, AR

June 14, 1939 - July 28, 2018

Jackie Fowler died July 28, 2018, at her home in Sherwood, Arkansas surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 14, 1939, in a hospital in Houma, Louisiana, and her parents, Ola and Jack Mixon, were never the same! Jacquelyn Fowler, born and nurtured in bayou country, absorbed the culture and "soul" of her native state. The demure, soft-spoken little girl became a genteel ragin' Cajun with a sarcastic wit. She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at 9 years old and was baptized in a bayou. Jackie went on to play piano in the Methodist church throughout the majority of her life. She attended Louisiana Tech, where she met Alton Fowler, and retired from the Department of Human Services

She married the love of her life, Alton Fowler, on June 7, 1969. Their marriage lasted 49 years and was full of romance, laughter, and shared adventures. They raised 2 children, Greg Greene and Elizabeth Fowler, with endless love and taught them how to laugh. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by Greg and Elizabeth, her granddaughter Brittany Massey, and her two great-grandchildren, Garrett Williams and Fallon Massey.

Jackie had a burning passion for life and was a vibrant contradiction of curious yet cautious, restless but calm, and short-tempered and patient. Jackie loved life, humor, people, and was a free spirit. She was a rare combination of beautiful on the inside and out, with an easy laugh and WOW, could she play a mean piano! When asked about her life, she responded, "I thoroughly enjoyed it!" in her best Scarlett O' Hara drawl. Jackie planned her funeral music years ago and directed that her departure music includes "When the Saints Go Marching in". She went on to specify that it plays "slowly and reverently" at first, then gradually build to a full "let it rip," much like Jackie's approach to life.

In lieu of flowers, Jackie's legacy would be better served by contributions made to Sylvan Hills Methodist Church at 9921 Arkansas 107, Sherwood, AR, 72120

What a wonderful description of Jackie! I can see her now sitting at the piano at Good Shepherd, and starting slow then letting it rip on the chorus! She brought such joy to the service! Ted and I were so sorry to hear of her passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God has a new vibrant angel!
