I served in the Army.
I. W. HudsonI am a Veteran.

of Harrison, AR

June 30, 1925 - July 20, 2018

I.W. Hudson, of Harrison, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018. He was 93 years old. The son of Loren Hudson and Annie (Daniel) Hudson, he was born June 30, 1925 at home on their farm near Bellefonte in Boone County.

I.W. was a veteran of the US Army and later retired from the United States Postal Service. He also dabbled in the used car business. He was a born salesman who never met a stranger. With his gift of gab, he could sell ice to an Eskimo.

He was a wonderful husband, Daddy and Pappaw. Family meant the world to him. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his wife Marie and their five daughters and ever-growing brood. He was always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, and occasionally remind a wayward grandchild that he would ''jerk a knot in your tail'', although it was an empty threat… to MOST of them.

He loved people and his extended family including his church family at Union Baptist and the lovely folks at Big Daddy's and Western Sizzlin' whom he adopted as his own. He had countless friends and went out of his way to help and care for them, whenever he was needed.

He loved to fish. Some of his best stories were about the one that got away, Ol' Stovepipe. He loved to travel with Marie, read westerns, collect clocks, and ride his beloved horses. He lived a very full and happy life and will be greatly missed. He loved Jesus and he often said he ''knew where he was going''. We know that he found the peace he so richly deserves.

I.W. was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lona Hudson Rowlett and her husband Frank; his daughter, Jeanne Hames Ball; and his grandson, Kendall Stuart Ball.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie Cochran Hudson; four daughters and sons-in-law: Donna and Tom Potts of Valley Springs, Ann Hames of Harrison, Janith Blackwell of Houston, Texas, and Joetta and Steve Shaffer of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; 23 great-grandchildren and their spouses; 7 great-great grandchildren; his church family and many, many friends.

Visitation was 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 23, 2018, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral service was 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Union Baptist Church.

Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Vince Deaton, Ryan Reeves, Justin Robinson, Nelson West, Jay Cherry, and Ian Cherry.

Honorary pallbearers were IW's Men's Sunday School Class at Union Baptist.

Marie and family,
We sure had a lot of respect for I.W. I think he was a good Christian man. He sure did know how to sing that bass. We enjoyed listening to his singing. He was so good to his sister.
You are in our prayers and thoughts.
Love, Billie and Nolan
