Elmer ''Dean'' Mayfield, 85 of Oark, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Oark. Dean was born January 26, 1933 in Dickerson, AR. to Mr. W.P. and Reba (Stewart) Mayfield. Dean served our country for eight years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Texas Steel in Ft. Worth, Texas, a member of Batson Baptist Church, American Legion, and D.A.V.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Delmer and W.T. Mayfield, and one sister Velma Woodson.
Mr. Mayfield is survived by his companion of eight wonderful years Peggy Lynch of their home; one son Robert (Jackie) Mayfield of Georgia; one daughter Wanda Lawrence of Texas; three sister: Belma(Glen) Clark of California, Zelma (Max) Pruitt of California, and Melba Schindo of California; nuermous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends and other family.
Mr. Mayfield's memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Batson Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Shields officiating.
We want to express our thanks and appreciation to the Arkansas Hospice personnel. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Batson Baptist Church or The Gideons.
