of Mabelvale, AR

September 23, 1939 - June 10, 2018

Wilcher Clay Kerr, 78, of Mabelvale, went to be with the Lord June 10, 2018. He was born on September 23, 1939, in Quitman, Arkansas to Vernon ''Pete'' and Martha Kerr. Wilcher was President and Founder of Kerr Paper and Supply Co.

He was a loving and faithful husband for 56 years to his loving wife, Lillian. As a loving and caring father and grandfather he taught and led by example. To a friend in need he was always there to help.

In 1986 he founded Kerr Paper and Supply. Though he became very successful he never forgot who he was or what he believed in. To all his employees and customers, he was generous, fair and respectful. He thought of them as family.

As a Godly man he walked the true straight line set before him. As a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend he gave us his best.

Wilcher was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Hubert Kerr and Bill Kerr. He is survived by his loving wife; Lillian Kerr, son; Barry Kerr (Dawna), daughter; Lisa Ginn (Scott), six grandchildren; Austin Kerr, Evan Kerr, Brad Ginn (Madelyn), Sara Ginn (Lance), Mia Ginn, Brianne Ginn, two brothers; Charles Kerr, Ed Kerr (Jan), two sisters; Helen Williams, Mary Ausbrooks (Ralph) and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and business associates.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the chapel of Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm, Monday, June 18, 2018 at Roller Drummond. Pastor Randall Moody will officiate.

We have known Wilcher Kerr for over thirty years I believe and have always known him to be a man of integrity. Someone who was consistently fair, honest, sincere, compassionate, forgiving, qualities that are in few today. A legacy he so obviously passed to his children. I will always remember him as a great example of how a man should spend his short time here on earth serving the Father. May God continue to provide strength to you all as a new normal becomes realized.

Sending thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace to Mrs. Kerr, Barry, family and friends.

I've had to the pleasure of working with Mr. Kerr for 7 years as his manufacture representative. Mr. Kerr will be missed and honored that God blessed me with him. I admired his honesty, integrity and kind way of doing business. He was a true gentleman. His work family often remarked to me of the respect and love they had for Mr. Kerr. Hearing these comments made me feel proud to be associated with the Kerr Paper team.

I'm sorry that I was away on business and could not attend the funeral. Please accept my condolences.

I valued his friendship very much, he was an inspiration to me always had a kind word. He will be missed, my only regret is that I didn't tell him how much he meant to me, but I believe somehow he knew. There is no way I can say words that will comfort you at this time, but you can rest assured that his memory will be in alot of hearts and especially mine. Love you Mrs. Lillian

My earliest memories of Little Rock Paper Company includes Wilcher, this was around 1970 or earlier. He was working with my grandfather and they seemed to have a very good relationship. I will always remember him as a very kind and thoughtful person. A devoted employee with excellent work habits and people skills. But the one thing I will remember the most about Wilcher is how he behaved under what had to be extreme pressure and stress many years later. He impressed me as a true Christian, and I feel blessed to have known him.

I met Wilcher a few years back at a United Group conference and was taken back by his kindness, openness and genuine caring for others. He invited me when ever I was in the area to stop and say hello and I took him up on that, it was always such a joy to talk with him and the couple of times I stopped in he never cut me short or said he didn't have time. Truly a wonderful person and respected business man, he will be missed by friends and competitors alike.
Our hearts go out to the family.
God Bless

It is with great respect that I recall Wilcher. He became a customer of our company 10 years ago. And he proved himself loyal ever since. Distance (about 2000 miles) kept us from being close friends, but our interactions were always friendly, honest and direct. He will be missed my many in our industry, but most significantly by his family. I wish them piece in this difficult time.

Now we go through a life change, losing Wilcher, likely one of the finest gentlemen we have known. A good person, a good manager and just good to work for. No doubt a good husband, Dad and Granddad. He will be missed by a lot of folks including us. Thanks to the Lord for allowing Wilcher to cross paths for so long.

I met Wilcher twenty years ago on a sales call, from that day forward he was more than a customer he was my friend! He was always fair, always answered the phone and always called you back. His humor was funny and kind. The GREAT memories are just too numerous to write. To Lillian, Barry, Scott, Lisa and the entire Kerr Paper Family - my heart and prayers go out to you. He was one of a kind and I'm sure right now the good Lord is enjoying the company of the very same Mr. Kerr we are missing.

Mr. Kerr was a kind and generous man. In December of '98 or '99, I was seeking handled paper bags, inexpensive as I could find, to fill with Christmas toys bought by the Diagnostic Unit Inmate Counsel (prison unit in Pine Bluff). Each year, the counsel saved money all year from weekend visiting time food sales, and used most of that money to purchase hundreds of dollars in toys for children who came in December to visit fathers, brothers, grandfathers, uncles. I was the toy buyer several years, and knew we needed a more efficient way to gather and send the toys with the kids. So . . . I stopped one day at Kerr, asked if we could make a deal, and was not expecting the generosity and charity I found there. He sold me some bundles at cost, then GAVE me an equal number for free. Lovely brown shopping bags with twine handles, perfect when tied with ribbons. I will never forget Mr. Kerr's gesture. By the way, the counsel used them at least 3 years. Always with the Kerr story attached.

I first knew Wilcher Kerr as a worthy competitor when we were both green as grass starting out in the paper business. We each honed our skills and ran into each other often. Over ten years ago, I closed my supply company and Wilcher purchased my residual inventory, hired me and I became his employee. It was a pleasure to work under his direction. Although our relationship began as employer/employee, we became good friends. I will miss his sense of humor, his willingness to help me service my customers in any he could, and his quiet, gentle demeanor. Goodbye, old friend.

I first met Mr. Kerr 30 years ago when I was a young salesman bidding against him for a state contract. Of course, I was completely green and had no understanding of the process so as they read the winning prices, I tried at first to write them on my business card, then on my hands as the list grew longer. It was then that Mr. Kerr handed my a copy of the bid sheet and showed me how to write which company won which item and the units of measure they'd been priced in. Years later, he became my boss and once again displayed his incredible kindness and amazing integrity. It was my great honor to know him as both a friend and an employer. He will be greatly missed!

Lisa, I agree with all that you said about your precious Dad. He was definitely one of kind. Always concerned about everyone else, kind , friendly and I am so thankful for all that he has done for his son in law, my son during his illness and had to be away from work so much during all the time he was recovering from his appendix cancer. He was always so good to the grandchildren and they love him dearly. May God bless each of you and give you peace and comfort as you face the days ahead without his early present. We will all see him again someday. Love you.

Mr. Kerr was such a wonderful boss. The best one anyone could ask for.
I looked up to him and had the utmost respect for him.
He loved to joke around with us and tease us. He brought joy to the office everyday. I will miss him so much.
He taught me a lot about the paper business. It will not be the same without him there everyday. My heart goes out to his family for losing such a sweet and honest man.

I ONLY MET MR. WILCHER KERR JUST ONCE IN ALL THE YEARS I WORKED WITH HIM AS A STATE EMPLOYER. FOR MANY YEARS, HE WAS JUST THAT PLEASANT AND APPRECIATIVE VOICE ON THE PHONE. HE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE VENDORS. WHENEVER I SUBMITTED AN ORDER TO HIM, HE NEVER FAILED TO CALL AND THANK ME FOR MY ORDER. I WORKED WITH HIM OVER 30 YEARS AND HE CALLED ME EVERY SINGLE TIME TO THANK ME. I LOVED HIS PLEASANTNESS AND HUMBLE SPIRIT. I HAVE MISSED TALKING TO HIM DURING HIS ABSENCE THESE PAST FEW MONTHS, AND I ALWAYS CHECKED ON HIS WELL-BEING WHENEVER I CALLED. I KNOW HE WILL BE MISSED TREMENDOUSLY BUT I AM HAPPY THAT HE IS RESTING IN PEACE, HARMONY AND LOVE.
