Evert "Pop" Dement, 87, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Bono, April 29, 1931, to Cleo and Lillie Dement. Mr. Dement was a lifetime farmer and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed coon hunting, dancing, horses and trail riding. He loved his family and always put them first.
Preceding Evert in death were his parents; wife, Joyce Dement; a grandson, Paul Evert Dement, Jr.; two brothers, William Dement, Jerry Dement; one sister, Jewel Greene.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Dement , Perry (Sherry) Dement, Mickey (Charlotte) Dement all of Bono; one daughter, Theresa (Barry) Dement-Moss of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Jason Hallmark, Canessa (Jeff) Yopp, Blake (Jill) Dement, Casey (Mike) Finley, Kelsy Dement, Kiley Dement; four great grandchildren, Sarah Yopp, Katelyn Yopp, Stella Hallmark, Maverick Finley; one brother, Leroy (Mary) Dement of Jonesboro; three sisters, Edna Cook of Jonesboro, Thelma (Bill) Beck of Murfreeboro, Tennessee, Lucille (Robert) Cook of Bono.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 6, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, at 2:00pm with Elvis Brandon and Robert Cook officiating. Serving as pallbearers are, Jason Hallmark, Kiley Dement, Danny Pope, Brian Dement, Kim Inboden, and Lester Wilson. Honorary bearers include, Sam Barnes, Bobby Davis, Dale Davis, Kenneth Smith, Roy Browning, Leon Harvey, Jabo Barnett, Billy Stephens, Sr., Clay Inboden, Ronald Cooper; nephews and nieces. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, near Bono.
Visitation precedes the service from noon until 2:00pm at the funeral home.
I am so sorry that I didn't know of the passing of your father Theresa, Perry and of your grandfather Jason. I would have most definately been there for ya'll if I had known. I pray for ya'll peace and no sorrow. Know that he had a happily fulfilled life on this earth but he was ready to go see his wife again. So, he left this earth happy and at peace with it, Holler at me if there's anything I can do for ya'll. I love ya and your in my prayers!!

Theresa, my heart hurts for you, Jason and your family. I know you all will be missing an important part of your family, but Pop was a good man, lived a long life and along with your sweet momma, raised an amazing family. Now he's gone to rest beside her. Please know that I wish I could be there, but I'm always with you in my heart. I love you. RIP Pop
