CMS R.L. Hogan, Jr., 90, a resident of Paris passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at his home.

He was born February 18, 1928, in Checotah, Oklahoma to the late Robert Lee and Minnie Bell (Lewis) Hogan. R.L. grew up in a farm family, raising livestock and grain to feed them. He graduated from Prairie Grove High School in 1946 and worked at a family owned grocery store and then the Farmer's Co-op in Fayetteville until he joined the United States Army Air Corp in 1947. R.L. would turn his enlistment into a career soldier, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant (the highest rank an enlisted soldier can receive) after 30 years of service. He served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War with much of his time being overseas including Japan. After his military service R.L. spent his working years with the Springhill, Tennessee Water and Sewer Department. He married Willie Mae Holsted on September 3, 1994 at Springhill, Tennessee. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Chris and David Hogan; a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Willie Mae Hogan of Paris; three sons, Tim Hogan and wife, Kelie of Tennessee, Marlin Davis of Paris and John Hogan of Georgia; two daughters, Merideth Grooms and husband, David of Tennessee and Sherry McDonald of Paris and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with the Rev. Tammy Frederick officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

The United States Air Force will serve as pallbearers.
