Thomas Houston George, III

of Little Rock, AR

July 30, 1943 - January 18, 2018

After a full and blessed life, on January 18, 2018, Thomas Houston George was called home to be with his Savior. Tom was born on July 30, 1943 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of T.H. George, Jr. and Thelma Stewart George. and the grandson of THGeorge, Sr. and Flora Caroline Orr George. Tom and his sister, Elizabeth Gayle, enjoyed a happy childhood. Tom particularly loved visiting his Grandpa's lumber yard
in Ada, and riding his horse on his Grandpa's cattle ranch.

In 1950, the family moved to Oklahoma City. Tom attended John Marshall High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and played several sports - his favorite being baseball. He chose to attend Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He was initiated into the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity where he met many good and life-long friends. After college graduation, Tom earned a Masters Degree at UCLA, and then accepted a management position with Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, where he was employed for many years. Tom liked the fast pace of business life and the opportunities to live in several different and exciting cities, the first of which was Little Rock in 1971, where he met Ruthie Rowan, who became his wife of 46 years.

God blessed Tom and Ruthie with four wonderful daughters, Betsy George Baltzer (Doug) of Denver, Meredith George Hall (John) and Nancy George Braner (Philip) of Dallas, and Jessica George Hillgartner (Chad) of St. Louis. They have provided the Georges with 14 grandchildren: Samuel Thomas, Molly Marie, and Robert Douglas Baltzer; Thomas Rowan, William Houston, and George Davis Hall; Thomas Stewart, Ella Ruthie, Anna Rowan, and Lynleigh Caroline Hillgartner; and GracieBeth, Mollie Caroline, Thompson Rowan, and Betsy Leigh Braner.

Tom was a godly Christian, a valuable employee, a faithful husband, a wonderful father, a much-loved Grandfather (Big Daddy) and a loyal friend. Many were drawn to his winsome personality - Tom never met a stranger; he was admired and loved by all. He was greatly loved and he will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Tuesday, January 23, at 11:00p.m. in the Sanctuary of St. Andrews Anglican Church. Entombment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. The family asks that gifts be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church, 8300 Kanis Road, Little Rock, AR 72204, the Parkinson Foundation, or your favorite charity.

I have known Tom since we were teenagers in Oklahoma City. Though I have not talked to him in several years, I am sad that he has left this life, and I will miss him. My sympathy to all his family and friends.
