I served in the Air Force.
John Arthur Peden, Sr.I am a Veteran.

of Marcella, AR

October 6, 1961 - January 16, 2018

John Arthur Peden, Sr. passed from this life at home, with his family by his side, on 16 January, 2018. He was born 6 October, 1961 in Denver, Colorado.

He was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving as a Flying Crew Chief 26 years with C-5s, C-30s and NATO E3a aircraft in 52 countries within 8 combat zones.

While serving in the Air Force, MSgt. Peden earned an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force, a Bachelor of Science degree from Emery Riddle University, a Masters degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix, and a Masters degree in History from the University of Nebraska.

After retiring from the Air Force in 2007, Mr. Peden moved to Mountain View to fulfill the dream of a second public service career, as a History teacher, teaching AP and Pre AP World History at Mountain View High School and as an adjunct professor, teaching online history courses for Ozarka College. He was a beloved and respected teacher.

Mr. Peden had many outside interests. He was a dedicated, through thick and thin Dallas Cowboy fan, he loved working with his hands to build things, refurbish automobiles, and work on his property. He was also an avid reader, and loved travelling and camping with his family.

He was a hard worker and there was nothing he would not do for his family. He was always willing to step up and help anyone or to fill in the gap, when needed.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Arthur Peden and Mamye Elizabeth Hinson Peden. He is survived by his wife, Jana and their daughter, Gabi, and adult children- Kathryn Jones (Blake), Maggie Howe, Alicia Reid, John Peden, Jr., Marcia Britton (Dan), 7 grandchildren and sister, Beth Gibbs (Ed).

The family suggests that those wishing to honor Mr. Peden's memory, make a donation to the Mountain View Band Program, in lieu of flowers.

A memorial service honoring John Arthur Peden, Sr. life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, 10:00 AM at Flatwoods Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View, Arkansas with Matt Sullivan and Blake Henely officiating.

Military honors will be provided by Little Rock AFB Honor Guard and the Stone County Honor Guard.

John Peden was one of the most brilliant men I've ever had the honor to work with. I had much respect for him. My son loved having him as a teacher. My thoughts and prayers are for all of the family and friends of this great man. He will be missed by many.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at Revelation 21:3,4
(3) "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. (4)
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away".

I met Mr. Peden when he started teaching at Mountain View and quickly came to respect his dedication to helping students. He was a creative and caring teacher who made a difference for those in his classes. Blessings to his family, and to his professional family both, for their loss.

Mr. Peden was the best History teacher I've ever had. He Pre-op class was the most useful class in my eyes. I learned a lot from Mr. Peden. Not just from his class but, from the lessons about everyday life he would share. I praise him for his service in the Airforce. I started and ended my day to him as he was also my bus driver. He will forever be missed. I pray for comfort for the family and friends in a very difficult time so early in the year. To the Peden Family, if you read my entry please know I'm praying for each of you. It's never easy losing someone you love. Bless all of you.

Love and prayers,
The Gunters.

I have known the Peden's for quite some time. He taught my son's in school and we have been co-workers for many years. We also attended the same church for quite some time.
I just pray Peace, Comfort and Strength for the Family, Coworkers, Student Body as well as his friends.. Mr Peden was a one of a kind person. Thank you sir for your years of service.
Every afternoon as we walked to our buses I would ask him 'how are you?" and he always replied with the same thing... "I'm good and yourself?"
You may be gone but you will always remain in our hearts!!!!

Love,
Shannon Jacobes and Family
