May 25, 1950 - January 13, 2018

Walter Eugene Pate, 67, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018. He was born on May 25, 1950 in Conway to John Jackson Pate, Sr. and Cordelia Josephine Jensen. He was preceded in death by his father, John.

Walter served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. His love for fishing was stronger than the Mississippi, but could never compare to the undying love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He never met a soul that was not a champion in his eyes. His kindness changed the lives of many forever.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Pate; son, Tony Pate; two daughters; Tina Reyna (Chris) and Tracy Russell (Robert); mother, Cordelia Jensen (Jerry); four sisters, Patsy Pate, Aletha Maxwell, Grace Pate-Christian, and Dorothy Rouse (Tony); brother, John Pate, Jr. (Sheryl); five grandchildren, Zachary Reyna, Reed Pate, Reagan Pate, Mason Taylor, and Diania Russell; along with several nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Romance Cemetery in Romance, AR.

my cousin was a brave man, from many years ago until his passing.

plagued by the pain he suffered, he endured and endured and endured.

we are truly saddened by his death, but recognize the struggles he had.

to all who loved him, be certain he loved you back. he was worth the love.

I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I loved Walter. He was always encouraging me to go to college, telling me how smart and beautiful I was. I lived with Walter and his family during part of my 9th grade year and I felt like one of his kids. I also want to thank him for his service to our country, I know he paid a high price. He was a wonderful cousin and generous to a fault. My prayers are for his entire family. I know your hurting, rest in God’s arms and he will give you strength.
Love,

Our deepest sympathy and prayers for all the Pate family Walter will be dearly missed He lloved his country and served proudly Loved his family and adored all of them and he just loved people in general and would do anything for anyone . Walter thank you for having such a beautiful daughter who you allowed our son to marry and they gave you and Marsha me and Terry such a awesome grandson. That grandson sure loved you and loves to fish almost as much as you did. If there is fishing in Heaven I hope you catch some big ones.

Uncle Walt never encountered one child that he didn't improve it or they were the better for knowing him. He was like my father and my hero. He had way when I was a child to me and two other children that you were the most important person in the room. You never went hungry and it was never boring. He told me how to hunt fish to believe that I could do anything. He fought for our country for the way that we live our lives. I thank you, I love you and you will always be my hero.
