Doyle H. JollyI am a Veteran.

of Greenbrier, AR

July 25, 1920 - January 9, 2018

Doyle Harvey Jolly passed from this earth January 9, 2018. He was born July 25, 1920. At the age of 18 months, his beloved grandparents took him, his older sister and brother in as their own. They raised him on the farm that he lived on for 97 years.

Doyle spent one year in CCC Camp. Then he met his beautiful wife on the lawn of Centerville Methodist Church during an annual Mothers Day Singing. He was 19 and Grace was 16. It didn't take long for them to discover true love. Doyle was drafted on October 2, 1942. He spent time in France and Germany at the Battle of The Bulge and on beaches of Normandy. While away, he wrote letters to his wife about the dreams of coming home and ''cleaning up that old home place''. He wanted to come home and farm.

Doyle loved people and took part on many committees to help farmers such as FHA Board, AMPI, and ASCS. Doyle worked hard and played harder. He loved fox hunting, traveling, and being out enjoying nature. He traveled to see most every state discovering that he loved Wyoming and Colorado best, due to excellent elk hunting and trout fishing. Anything Doyle set his mind to accomplish, he accomplished. Doyle loved running his dogs, he liked to hunt and hunt everything. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Doyle was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Mary Elizabeth (Molly McCraken) and James Andrew Jolly, his parents, Mae (Akins) and Bevily Jolly. He was also preceded in death by his son whom he lost recently, Hal Jolly, brother, Coy Jolly and sister, Wanda Jolly White. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Grace (Webb), Jolly, Sandy (Cathy Kitts), Jim (Pam Patton), Nina Hankins Jolly, Don (Donna Pearson) and Teresa (Philip) Golden and many grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Friday, January 12th at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. Funeral services will be at 2pm Saturday at Centerville Methodist Church, with Pastor Lana Gartner and Zeb Golden officiating. Burial will follow at McNew Cemetery in Greenbrier. Serving as pallbearers will be Grant McGhee, Joseph Jolly, Joshua Jolly, John Jolly, Justin Jolly, Zeb Golden, and Zane Golden. Honorary pallbearers will be Melanie Jolly, Marilee Mendoza, Mandy Hare, Nicole Gray, Sammy Lemarr, Grace Golden, and Jennifer Barber. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centerville Methodist Church.

Dear Jim, Pam and family,
G.L. and I were sad to hear of the passing of both Jim's brother and father in recent days. Our prayers are with you. I loved the video memorial. What a beautiful couple they were and they had a beautiful family and Doyle lived a long rich life. I love it that he had that desire to see and do all his life. God Bless all those like him who served in the WWII. Not many of them left. My dad and his one brother are still living at 93 and 95.
Love and Blessings,
Cissy

Its with great sadness that we the Civitarese Family send our
condolences to the Jolly family. We Spent many years visiting our family (woodrome), and those trips always included a visit to the Jolly farm. Mr. and Mrs. Jolly always had watermelons from the farm as a treat for us kids. Mr. Jolly always included my dad and brothers to a coyote hunt. We learned where and how milk went to the market. Those memories have never been forgotten. Our visits to the farm are part of our memories we reminisce about when we speak of our yearly trip to our granny. He surely will be missed. We send our love and may he rest in peace never to be forgotten.

A better man would be hard to find. Through the years Doyle experienced the joys and heartaches of life. He finished well. We are lifting up the family in prayer.

I'm so saddened to read of Doyle's passing. My daddy, Wendell Glover, and my uncle, J. N. Fielder, both thought the world of him. Daddy loved fox hunting with Doyle. And Uncle J. N. was sure happy to see him after being missing 8 days behind German lines. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

I'm so sorry to hear of Doyle’s passing. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I lost my dad in 2010, and my mom in 2012. After my losses, reading Revelation 21:3,4 gave me real comfort. It says: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I hope reading these verses also give you comfort during this difficult time. GW

Being from Greenbrier for several generations, our families have grown up together. But, it was such an honor to get to spend some time with Mr. Jolly in the past few years and to be on the Honor Flight with him, Teresa, and Zeb, where he was treated like the WWII hero that he was. He was truly of the greatest generation and will be missed.

Peace and Love to all the Jolly family. My Dad Doice and all his brothers all knew Doyle from the time they were little tykes. I remember meeting him several times when I was growing up in the late 40s early 50s. He was a gentleman and a person you remember in a good way.
