Noel Vaughn Smith, 79, of Oil Trough passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
He was born on November 17, 1938 in Guion, Arkansas to Hugh P. Smith and Lola Mary (Shelton) Smith.
Noel was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve.
He is survived by two sons, Timothy Smith (Debra) of Houston, Texas and Earl Crawford of Newport, Arkansas; two daughters, Sonja Stephens (Tom) of Pleasant Plains and Anita Laidlaw (Patrick) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Nadine Warman of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia Sullivan (Alfred) of Oil Trough, Arkansas, and Velma Honeycutt (Harrell) of Jerusalem, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lola Smith; his wife, Martha Ann Smith; sister, Rhea Dean Cooley; and two sons, Rickey Crawford and Billy Crawford.
Pallbearers will be Allen Cathey, Bradley Cathey, Mike Fears, Bryan Fears, Josh Fears, and Bubby Maples.
Funeral services will take place at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Blackland Freewill Baptist Church in Oil Trough with Bro. Stanley Vandergrift and Bro. Fagan officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Monday prior to service.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am a cousin of Vaughn's. His father was my mother's brother, my Uncle Hugh. I remember him as a kind, mild-mannered person though I haven't seen him for about 60 years. You have my condolences. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
