Diana "Dixie" Joan Abrahamson, age 87, died peacefully in Fayetteville, Arkansas on December 25, 2017. Dixie was born on March 27, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana. After serving in the United States Air Force until 1952, she then went to college for fashion merchandising. Dixie and Jack Abrahamson were married in 1954 in Long Beach, California where they raised their sons, Michael and Jon. They later moved to Arkansas in 1970. She worked as the emergency room admissions clerk in Saint Edwards Mercy Hospital until she retired in 1990 when she then moved to Cherokee Village, Arkansas. Dixie was a member of the Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, an accomplished oil painting artist, world traveler, and lover of life. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling through Europe and was very active in numerous social clubs. She was passionate about the study of religion, culture, art, and history.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Diana (Osborne) Gallosh; her husband, of nineteen years, Jack Gordon Abrahamson, and their son, Jon Eric Abrahamson.

Dixie is survived by one son, Mike Abrahamson and wife, Carolyn, of Magazine; one granddaughter, Diana McDaniel and husband, Gregory; three grandsons, Eric Abrahamson, Jack Abrahamson and wife, Felecity and Cory Abrahamson; seven great-grandchildren, Rileigh, Jillian, London, Knox, Ryker, Damon and Farrah.

Pallbearers will be Jack Abrahamson, Eric Abrahamson, Cory Abrahamson, Jason Thompson, Rick Walls and Tim Warren.

A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Booneville Funeral Service Chapel with burial following at Blue Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service.

The family would like to thank Shiloh Nursing Home and Willard Walker Hospice Home and their caregivers for their comfort.

Memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202.
