Roy J. Kimmer, 89, of Batesville, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his home.
He was born in O'Neal, Arkansas of September 29, 1928 and was the son of Edgar Gillotte Kimmer and Mary Estella (Tosh) Kimmer. He was U. S. Army veteran having served in the 7th Infantry Division, 40th AAA Battalion during the Korean War.
Roy was a retired truck driver and a member of the New Hope Presbyterian church in Bethesda.
He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Wheeler and wife, Jeanine, of Chillicothe, Missouri; daughters, Linda Wheeler House and Glenda Wheeler Collins both of Southside, Arkansas; grandchildren, Patrick Collins (Milinda) of Batesville, Paul Collins (Kim) of Oakland, Tennessee, Chris House of Dickerson, North Dakota, Alana Hulen of Southside, Jim Wheeler (Rachel) and Jill Gibson (Matt) all of Chillicothe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances (Engles) Kimmer; brothers, Reed Franklin Kimmer, Paul Hayden Kimmer, Herman Hale Kimmer, Neal Ray Kimmer, Dale Edgar Kimmer, and Max Edward Kimmer; and sisters, Effie Irene Sisk and Lena Imogene Kimmer Robertson.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Stroh, Paul Collins, Dalton Collins, Corey House, Bryan Kimmer, and Jeremy Richardson. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Smith, James Roy Young, Patrick Collins, and Jim Wheeler.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Batesville with Rian Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.

You were the best grandfather anyone could ask for. I'll always remember your kindness and the love you and Mamaw Kimmer showered on us grandkids. I pray that God holds you and keeps you in his arms forever. Until we see each other again, I will alway love you.
