Jim R. Bryant, 79, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center. Jim was born on August 23, 1938 in Greene County to E.C. and Helen Bowlin Bryant.
Mr. Bryant was a star athlete in high school. He was owner of Bryant Exxon and Grocery for many years. Later in life he worked and retired as a sales rep for Dacus Fence in 1998. He was a Justice of the Peace with Craighead County Quorum Court for twenty-seven years. Jim was a member of North Main Baptist Church where he was currently serving as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. He also enjoyed raising cattle, spending time at Lake Norfolk and being with family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Debbie Bryant.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Judy Owen Bryant; sons, Terry Bryant and Jimmy Keith (Karen) Bryant; daughter, Carmi (George) Cotros; Grandchildren, Jimmy "Chip" (Kerenza) Bryant and Kendra (Ryan) Platt; Great Grandchildren, Jimmy Bryant, III, Lily Bryant, Alaina Platt Carter Platt; and sister, Jean (Bill) Puckett.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 3, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm with Gary Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be Lee Owen, Greg Owen, Casey Owen, Matt McQuay, Russ Breckenridge and Jeff Breckenridge. Honorary Bearers are the Men's Sunday School Class at North Main Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will precede the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home.
Jim will be missed. So sorry.
