Avanell Watson Conner, age 94, of Helena, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Conner was born August 27, 1923 in Rector, Arkansas to the late Samuel and Nora Watson. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1944. After graduation she married Carl, her husband of 56 years. Together they had three children. She was a career school teacher, teaching elementary and junior high school for over40 years.
Mrs. Conner was a devoted member of the West Helena United Methodist Church, where she served as church organist, a Sunday School Teacher, and Worship Coordinator for many years. She enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening, reading and writing. She was also a devoted Arkansas Razorback fan.
She is survived by two sons, Carl W. Conner (Holly) of Choctaw, Oklahoma and F. William Conner (Beth) of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Cindy Lewis (Mark) of Helena; three grandchildren, Matthew Lewis (Anne), Michael Lewis (Erin) and Amanda Murashige; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend and Mrs. Sam G. Watson; her husband, Carl M. Conner; and three brothers, Reverend J.W. Watson, Frank Watson and Dr. Sam D. Watson.
A memorial service for Avanell Conner will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, October 23, 2017 at West Helena United Methodist Church with visitation to follow in the fellowship hall. Reverend Melissa Maskell will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, or a charity of your choice.

So sorry for the loss of you mother. She was such a fine and sweet lady. We will miss her dearly. We are sorry that we cannot make it to her service. My mother is missing her best friend already and we have you all in our prayers.
