Neoma Curtis

of Harrison, AR

February 26, 1924 - September 9, 2017

Neoma Margaret Young Curtis, of Harrison, died Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Hillcrest Home. She was 93 years old, born February 26, 1924, in Zinc, Arkansas to Ona and Nora Young.

Neoma gave her heart and soul to her home and family; nothing meant more to her. She enjoyed pickling and preparing and canning fresh vegetables from her bountiful garden. Neoma was a superb gardener, tending daily to both her vegetables and flowers. She loved to take Sunday drives to the lake. Her family, garden and the Lord were important to her. She was a member of Eagle Heights Baptist Church.

After graduating from Bergman High School, Neoma moved to Wichita, Kansas to work at Boeing Aircraft. She returned home to marry the love of her life, Argil Curtis. They moved to Colorado where Argil was stationed before deploying for World War II. After the war they bought their forever home, where they raised three beautiful children, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. Their home was the center of their family and where they brought everyone together, often for fish fry's or fried chicken. Neoma loved to entertain, she also loved visiting with her neighbors, listening to the party line, and spending time with her sister Joyce.

Neoma is survived by her daughter, Belinda (Curtis) Jones Valentine; her sister, Joyce (Hopper) Taylor; her son-in-law, Steve Valentine; her niece, Cheryl (Hopper) Clark; and many other nieces and nephews. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kim and Greg Umber of Springdale, Arkansas, Angel and Jay Guerra of Kansas City, Missouri, David and Jamie Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas, Delana Jones of Seattle, Washington, Tiffany and Lyle Watkins of Harrison, Arkansas, Amber and Erick Schermerhorn of Fayettville, Arkansas and Tony and Crystal Valentine of Harrison, Arkansas; 14 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Neoma's heavenly reunion includes her parents; her brother, Hillman Young; her husband, Argil Curtis; her daughter, Carolyn (Curtis) Walker; her son, Aaron Argil Curtis; her great-granddaughter, Michelle Hudson; and many bothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation was Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Service was held at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home Wednesday, September 13, 2017, with Rev. D. C. Adams officiating. Burial was at York Cemetery in Bergman, Arkansas.

Though we can't be there to see you off my dear aunt. I know the sky is blue, and the clouds fluffy and white and oh so beautiful where you are. You will forever be in my heart. You were my other mother, and I love you always.
