of Leslie, AR
September 19, 1970 - September 7, 2017
Tracy Aleshia Campbell, age 46 of Leslie, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, September 7th, 2017 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Arkansas with the love of her life by her side. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas on September 19th, 1970 to Robert and Shirley Overstreet.
Growing up, she attended Marshall Elementary School and later graduated from Marshall High School as a member of the class of 1988. Tracy was an active member of the Leslie United Methodist Church. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Central Arkansas where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree in Education. Tracy married Douglas Campbell in 1992, giving her the title of ''Mrs. Campbell'' and on May 24th, 1999 she received her most blessed title, ''Mom'', when Hailey Kristian Campbell entered the world. She loved being a daughter, sister, wife, teacher and especially a mom. Shortly after becoming ''Mrs. Campbell'', she accepted a teaching position for the fall of '93 at Scotland Public Schools. After a whirlwind inaugural year, she came home to Searcy County, accepting a position with Leslie Public Schools. Tracy taught children in second thru sixth grades during her career; upon her retirement from Searcy County School District, she had made an enormous impact on children's lives for twenty-four years. She loved sharing her passion of learning and literature with kids and watching the spark she could ignite burn brightly in every student. But education didn't just happen at school. Tracy was also instrumental in overseeing, organizing and teaching many summers at Vacation Bible School for the Leslie Methodist Church. Tracy also cherished her animals, was an avid literature lover and thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors working in her flowers, hiking trails or simply enjoying life from the deck.
Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her husband, Douglas Campbell of the home; daughter, Hailey Campbell of Jonesboro; parents, Robert and Shirley Overstreet of Marshall; brother, Brandon Overstreet, also of Marshall; mother-in-law, Shelba Campbell of Leslie; sisters-in-law, Jeanie (Mark) Swaim of Dallas, TX and Gay Lynn (Randy) Rose of Leslie; nephew, Josh Swaim of Dallas, TX; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and former students, who loved her dearly.
Funeral services for Tracy will be 2:00 PM Sunday, September 10th, 2017 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Micheaul Proctor officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Saturday, September 9th, 2017 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Nubbin Hill Cemetery near Leslie. Pallbearers will be former students, Cody Branscum, Bub Deckard, Seth Griffin, Willie Stiles and Zach Tuell, and family friend, Rocky Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be John Gray, Roger Massey, Andrew Ragland, Isaac Bramlett and Chad Horton. Following the interment, family and friends will gather at Leslie School cafeteria for a meal and Celebration of Life service where stories and memories will be shared. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested the community continue to support Mrs. Campbells ''kids'' by donating to the Forest Newby Space Camp Scholarship at Simmons Bank, P. O. Box 250, Marshall, AR 72650. This will help fund a scholarship to send a Searcy County child on to Space Camp.
Tracy was my best & most precious friend at UCA when we were R.A.s together. She married first, then was a beautiful bridesmaid in my wedding in Kansas. I still think of her all the time, but over the years life got busy for both and we lost touch. I tried many times to find her on Facebook, but for whatever reason, never did. I contacted many Tracys, but none were her. I should have tried the old fashioned way & called information to see if she & Doug had a landline. Today I was so happy & excited when UCA alumni office said they would give her my contact info. I could almost feel the reunion that we could plan. Then, in the kindest voice, Vicky in Alumni Office told me the saddest news. I’ve been crying this morning and I miss Tracy more now than ever. I would give anything if my children could have had her for a teacher. The sweetest, most precious, and MOST FUN soul has entered heaven and I’d give anything if I can share a bunk bed with her in heaven one day. My best memories st UCA were when we’d have sleepovers and laugh until tears leaked out. Today’s tears aren’t the same. I am comforted to remember how much Tracy loved her family and that she had an amazing prince of a husband in Doug. Her daughter must be one of the most blessed girls in all the world to have had Tracy for her mom. Much love to everyone that Tracy loves. “LOVESâ€, present tense, because love never fails. Love is eternal & in eternity, we’ll hug Tracy and hear her beautiful laugh again. â¤ï¸
