Madge loved God with her whole heart. She adored children and was a gifted teacher. A talented pianist, she taught elementary music at Mars Hill Bible School, Crowley's Ridge Academy and Central Arkansas Christian Schools; she also taught private piano lessons in her home. Her joy and passion for music and people inspired all who knew her.
Alongside her husband, Madge served as a minister's wife in Alabama, Idaho, Arkansas, Mississippi and around the world. The highlight of Madge's later life was her work with Partners in Progress in Southeast Asia. In her words, she loved telling people about the living God.
Madge was devoted to her family. They were her greatest joy. Her legacy of love and faith will live on through them; her children rise up and call her blessed.
The family would like to thank Cottage Lane Health and Rehab for their kindness and care in Madge's last days. Memorials in her honor may be made to Samaritan's Purse: Will and Alisa Copeland or Christian Relief Fund: Sarah and Chris Nicholson, c/o Chattahoochee Valley Church of Christ, 122 Bascom Ct., Columbus, GA 31909. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
Our deepest sympathy to the family. Aunt Madge was such a wonderful person! While Charity was attending Lipscomb University, we always stopped on the way in Little Rock to spend the night with Aunt Madge & Uncle Claude. Aunt Madge gave real meaning to the word "hospitality." She had all the good qualities of both Mary and Martha. Her eyes would light up as she told us the good things that were happening to her children and grandchildren. I can't remember any conversation with Aunt Madge, where she didn't use the phrase "serving the Lord."
Our heart and prayers go out to you and your family at this time. What a wonderful Christian example your parents were to anyone who crossed paths with them.
Keeping you in our prayers,
Donna Cox
We are sorry we cannot come to the funeral. We have Dental Appointments that were set 6 months ago. We fondly remember your mother. I first knew your mother and dad through my parents, Carroll and Rachel Trent. Then your mother had our older son, Dee, in the fifth grade at Crowley's Ridge Academy. She was so good for him. Then, in 2006, Wallace and I were privileged to go to Cambodia with your parents. We spent 7 weeks with them in Phnom Penh teaching for Partners in Progress. We thoroughly enjoyed those seven weeks. We have many good memories of those seven weeks. Your parents were truly wonderful godly people and we will always appreciate them.
Wallace and Carol Randle.
Your family will be in our prayers. Madge was an inspiration to Don and Me, She was always smiling no matter was happening to her or claude. We loved Madge and know your loss is great.
Prayers for your family during this time of loss. Mrs. Lewis was such a special lady. She was my 5th grade teacher at CRA and my piano teacher for many years. She was a wonderful example of a Christian lady and touched many lives. I will always remember her smile and encouraging words.
Prayers for comfort and strength during this difficult time. What a wonderful woman that brought many to the Lord. May she rest with her Lord and Savior
