Forest Stafford Newby

of Leslie, AR

July 22, 2004 - August 7, 2017

Forest Stafford Newby, age 13 of Leslie, Arkansas passed from this life on Monday, August 7th, 2017. He was born in Cottonwood, Arizona on July 22nd, 2004 to Steven and Toni Newby.

Forest was a vibrant young man with a passion for adventure. In his short life, he had travelled across the country, learned how to sail a boat, became a certified scuba diver, and had plans to become an airplane pilot and an astronaut. Recently, Forest graduated from Space Camp, in Huntsville, Alabama. He wanted to go to Mars.

He always had a great big heart. Forest knew that if a piece of candy tasted good, it would surely taste better if the other kids had one, too. He wanted to share his experiences in life with others, whether it was a new game he'd found, or an incredible opportunity he had. That is why the family has asked that instead of flowers, those who feel moved to may donate to the Forest Newby Space Camp Scholarship Fund. Forest would love knowing that he helped to send a local child to Space Camp.

Forest is survived by his mother, Toni, his father, Steven, and his sister, Raven, age 11. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Peggy and Roger Stafford of Florida; his paternal grandparents Fawn and Bob Carl of Arizona and Steve and Mary Newby of Florida. Other surviving members of his family include his Aunt Amber Flamand and Uncle Ryan, and cousins Brendan, Nathan and Connor-all from Oregon; Aunt Lorelei Crockett and Uncle Jay, and cousins Lee and Will-of Tennessee.

Memorial services for Forest will be 4:00PM on Friday, August 11th, 2017 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, with Rocky Thomas officiating. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Forest Newby Space Camp Scholarship at Simmons Bank, P. O. Box 250, Marshall, AR 72650. This will help fund a scholarship to send a Searcy County child on to Space Camp.

We grieve with you over the loss and much too early separation from Forest..
We did not know Forest, but we regret the sorrow you feel - we grieved the lost a son because of a motorcycle accident who was a few years older than your son. We can tell you that as time passes you will be able to remember more of the good times and dwell less on your loss. We found that each person grieves in a different way and at different times, so we encourage each of you to allow for those differences in your families.
We are of the Christian faith and as we dealt with our pain we came to understand that God is still sovereign. May you find comfort as you walk through this “valley of the shadow of death” and may friends share their good memories of Forest with you.

Our love and prayers to your whole family at this tragic time. Forest had such a deep sweet sole for just being 13! He was very special and was so excited to go to space camp. He left quite an impression from earth to beyond. We love you all!
