Rebecca Rasnake

of Jasper, AR

October 8, 1944 - July 17, 2017

Rebecca Rasnake, a child of The King, went home to her Heavenly Father Monday, July 17, 2017. She was born October 8, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Katherine (Milburn) Greer, in Longview, Texas. She was a proud TEXAN. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Ron Lee.

Rebecca was a member of First Baptist Church in Athens, Texas. After moving to Newton County, when she was able, she attended Yardelle Chapel where she kept Bro. Derwin in line. She worked as a medical office manager and medical tech in east Texas and the Dallas area for over 30 years. She moved to Newton County five years ago.

Rebecca was a resident of the Newton County Nursing Home. She loved her room, which was filled with pictures of her daughter, Sheri', her sisters, her parents, and her collection of crosses. She adored the staff of Newton County Nursing Home as well, the best nursing home in the state! She looked forward to her Friday visits to Blue Mountain Bakery and Cafe' for gumbo. But her favorite of all was staying the weekend at LeisureLee Hills Ranch with Lyndia.

Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Sheri' Rasnake, of Keller, Texas, who was the joy and light of her life; her twin sisters, Lyndia Lee of Hasty, Arkansas and Verna Sherrod and husband Fred of Wildwood, Texas, and her baby sister, Carla Akins and husband Stephen, of Athens, Texas.

Rebecca is also survived by her nieces, Shannon Pourmanafzadeh and husband Mark of Austin, Texas and Christy White and husband Tim of Keller, Texas; her nephews, Paul and Jacob Akin of Lubbock, Texas and Matthew Akin and wife Anete of Athens, Texas; her great-nieces and nephews, Sarah and Eric Dennis of Austin, Texas, Colton and Justin White of Keller, Texas, Peyton, Iris, and Carson Akin of Amarillo, Texas and Jonas and Amilja Akin of Athens, Texas; and two great-great-nieces, Lila Dennis and Imi Hardin, of Austin, Texas.

Rebecca also thought highly of her extended Lee family, Doc. Roy, Jean, Sharon, Paul and Annie.

Graveside service was Friday, July 21, 2017, at Sand Hill Cemetery, with Bro. Derwin Martin officiating the service and Fred Sherrod reading the scripture.

Pallbearers were Rebecca's nephews and great-nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Newton County Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newton County Nursing Home, 610 Court Street, Jasper, AR 72641.

We, her family, are most thankful and grateful to the outstanding staff and administration of this fine home.

So sorry for your loss. Prayers for the whole family during this difficult time. Although I did not know Rebecca, her daughter Sheri is a dear friend of mine and she spoke often of the wonderful mom and woman that she was!

JOHN 14: 1-6

God rejoices and Heaven is made sweeter with each saint who goes home. God continues to bless those who continue the journey.
