Philip Earl Woods, age 64, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He was born February 21, 1953 to Maurice Earl and Doris Mae (Davenport) Woods in Highland, Illinois.
Philip earned his MBA and worked for several institutions, both in education and banking, as Chief Financial Officer. He engaged in the membership of the Kiwanis Club and was President-elect of the Jonesboro chapter. He was also a member of Grace Point Church of Christ in Jonesboro. Philip attended Arkansas State University. He grew up in Jonesboro.
Philip is survived by his wife, Malinda Kay of Jonesboro, Arkansas, one son, Marcus Earl (Jennifer) Woods of Jonesboro, two daughters: Cynthia (Dustin) Neal of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Julianne (Jeremy) Thompson of Springdale, Arkansas; also by six grandchildren: Kelsey, Clayton, Sarah-Kayte, Cayden, Coen and Grayson, by his mother, Doris Woods of Mountain Home, sister, Amy (Michael) Shirley of Memphis, TN, and brothers: Jeffrey (Donna) Woods of Bay, Arkansas, Victor (Janice) Woods of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Dana (Annette) Woods of Mountain View, Arkansas. One uncle, Gerald Davenport of Yellville, Arkansas and one aunt, Doris Miles of California, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Earl and his son, Russell Gray.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at College and North Church of Christ with Bill Dillon and David Gibson officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Philip was a very intelligent person who always had great ideas for the club. As you know, He was our President -Elect and we were all looking forward to a great year with Philip as our leader.
