Anna M. Knight

of Scranton, AR

October 9, 1932 - May 29, 2017

Anna M. ''Ann'' Knight, 84, a resident of Scranton passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Johnson Regional Medical Center in Clarksville.

She was born October 9, 1932, in Little Rock. Ann married J.D. Knight, Jr. in 1958 and lived the remainder of her life in Scranton, where they ran a cattle farm and raised three children.

Survivors include two sons, Joe and Roger Knight, both of Scranton; a daughter, Sonia Eckelhoff and husband, Will of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Kristie Eckelhoff and Derek Eckelhoff and wife, Katie; a great grandson, Henry Eckelhoff; two sister-in-laws, Katsy Jones and husband, Winfred of Prairie View and Mae Koerdt of Scranton; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, J.D. Knight, Jr. and her brother, Edmond Koerdt.

Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She served the community of Scranton when her children were younger, organizing and managing the 4-H Youth Program. She was always ready to volunteer in the schools and community of Scranton. She was a good neighbor and friend to many.

She was a member and past president of the Prairie View and Logan County Economic Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Orphan Train Riders Association and went to schools and organizations giving talks regarding the Orphan Train Riders. Her passion for this came from her mother, Rose, who came to Morrison Bluff on the Orphan Train from an orphanage in New York City. She was three years old and the Weisenfels family in Morrison Bluff gave Rose a loving home.

Ann was a member and secretary-treasurer for the Prairie View United Methodist Church for many years. Anyone that knew Ann knew she was a kind, sweet lady whose main goal in life was to make the world a better place for her family, friends and community.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Aaron Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie View Cemetery near Scranton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Will Eckelhoff, Derek Eckelhoff, Jim Jones, Jerry Koerdt, Tony Rogers and Ross Rogers.

She was the best! It would be hard to be a better person than Ann. She loved deeply, served well, was humble and had a great sense of humor. I know she is missed. Our prayers are with you all, we are out of state or would see you at the service. Blessings to you all in this time. Judy and Steve Hall

To Ann family: Your mom was one of the nicest women I know. I was just looking at our wedding pictures and she and JD are both setting there in the pews. It seems like everything I went to at Scranton for the last 50 years plus your mom was there. Always wanting to make sure everyone is ok. She was a real worker in God's army! I know you will miss her; just cherish the memories.
