Leon Walrath, 80, a resident of Paris passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at his home.
He was born September 5, 1936, in Fort Plain, New York to the late Raymond D. and Emma G. (Paul) Walrath. Leon was a veteran of the United States Army. After his military service he spent 29 of his working years as an automotive mechanic and body technician at Mark Varnell Body Shop. In his spare time he enjoyed vegetable gardening and believed in natural herbal healing. He was of the Episcopalian faith. In addition to his parents Leon was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Turner and Gertrude Smith.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Crane of Paris and Tina Walrath of Canajorharie, New York; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Doris Geesler of St. Johnsville, New York; two brothers, Leland Walrath of Salem, New York and David Walrath of Canajoharie, New York and his former wife, Karen Konik of Palatine Bridge, New York.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 2, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Paris with Rev. Judy Hall officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow at McKendree Cemetery near Subiaco.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
