Mr. Farmer had a way of doing things that did not encourage conflict or alienate students even if they slept in class, which I often did (much thanks to the young lady - I believe her last name was Walton - who sat behind me and pinched my arm incessantly during class time). Mr. Farmer apparently taught via osmosis because, as I would learn years later, I finished his class with greater than a "B" average grade. He was one of my most memorable teachers, and I'm saddened that he had to leave us.
I'm so sorry for your loss!!!
Mr. Farmer was the best history teacher ever, I will nerer forget the impact he made in my life. RIP
Awesome teacher! Thank you Mr. Farmer for your service & all that you did for us students!
God blessed you with an awesome teaching ability and helped to pave the way for students continued love of history and our country. Thank you for impacting our lives and the lives of our children as we pass it along. His son took our wedding photos and we have been together 40+ years!
Mr. Farmer was one of my top three teachers in my life. He would come to class every day with two newspapers so that we could both do the Cryptoquote. We would race to see who could finish first. He taught me a lifelong love of maps and history and I think of him often, with a smile on my face. I am sorry for your loss but grateful for my experience of being his student.
I feel like I've known Mr. Farmer & his family all my life. As a prior member of the Archview Baptist Church, where I was Baptized many moons ago. He was a great history teacher, a Veternan & always loved watching his slides of family vacation/adventures. He always had a smile to share, an ear to listen, always had time for "you" I have an ever lasting memory of his kind heart. Thank You Mr. Farmer for your kindness, our ability to learn through you. Heaven has gained another Angel this week. To the family; I'm sorry for your loss. Keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers. Bless You All
Thank you Mr. Farmer for taking me under your wing and showing me your world of ham radio operations, building electronics, and radios galore in your man cave. You've left me with fond memories. Rest In Peace sir!
Mr Farmer was one of my favorite teachers. Not only did he teach us history but he made it fun. I also had him for homeroom and he was always "cool". He obviously loved traveling and really enjoyed sharing his slides from vacation. As a young man who's own father passed away at an early age I learned a lot from this. He was a great man in my book. Condolences to his family and friends.
Mr. Farmer's history class was the one I looked forward to every day. He had an appreciation for the topic and it showed in his teaching. I still love history. Thank you Mr. Farmer for your dedication. Praying that the family finds comfort in the memories and the sure and certain future of seeing him again in Heaven.
My 11th grade homeroom teacher. I remember his love for the ham radio. Nice man. Well respected.
The first time I traveled to Europe, is when History came alive for me! Mr. Farmer had a passion and excitement about global events and their role in our lives. It took me 40 years to realize the importance of history. But, I'm glad Mr. Farmer was the one who peaked my curiosity and prepared me to relate to my past. Thank you Mr. Farmer!
Great teacher.. will always remember HIM in history. Class of 86. Thank YOU Mr. Farmer
I will always remember Mr farmer singing a song in class. It started out, today is Monday Monday's soup everybody's happy I feel fine. He was such a good man and great teacher. I'll always remember him
Mr. Farmer was a great teacher and a great man, beloved by all who knew him. He is one of the few teachers at Mills High that left a lasting impression on me. He shared his knowledge, but also his heart and his love of country with us. I will always remember him, and as a teacher myself, I must say he was a very positive educational influence on my life. Rest in peace, Mr. Farmer.
Mr. Farmer was a great teacher and a very fair, honest and giving person. Apparently he carried that through after his retirement to his role as a volunteer. He was definitely a role model for our Mills High Class of 1975. Condolences and thanks to his family for his service to our country and our community.
So sorry to learn of Mr. Farmer's passing. I had his Economics class in '71-'72 in my senior year at Mills. Mr. Farmer was not just a teacher, he was a friend. I don't know of any one that did not respect him. He was a great man and teacher. I'm sure you all already know this. I just had to say it to let you know how he influenced my life as his student and through out my life since high school. Every one has a certain person in their life to be able to look up. For me, Mr. Farmer was right there at the top. I will always remember him as my teacher and friend.
Dear Dora, Della, Carole, Al and Becca, I'm with you in spirit sending my deepest sympathy and love to you all. Taking comfort in each other can give you strength during this difficult and sad time. I'm glad you're all together. Sincerely, Linda
Mr. Farmer drove my school bus and when I was in elementary school, it snowed and school was let out early. When we got to my house the snow had gotten pretty deep for a child and mr. Farmer carried me across the street to my house. Mr. Farmer was a kind man and I'm sure will be missed deeply by his family.
I was a fellow Social Studies teacher with Johnny Farmer at Fuller Junior High until he moved down the the street to the new Mills High School. Eventually I moved on to McClellan High but I kept in touch with Johnny until I moved to Texas in 1975. He was a well prepared, dedicated teacher and I treasure my past association with him.
Dora, Della, Carol, Al and Becca, So many wonderful memories of all of you, growing up next door. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Marinelle
