Charles (Charlie) L. Lewis of Yellville, Arkansas, passed from this life April 19, 2017.

He was born in Checotah, Oklahoma, July 25, 1940 to Violet and Zearl Lewis.

Charlie began his working life by picking cotton as a child and lumberjacking as a teenager. He moved to Dallas, Texas and began working for the Postal Service while serving as an auxiliary Police Officer. He advanced through the ranks in the Post Office as clerk, accounting officer and supervisor before being appointed Postal Inspector in May, 1970. He performed Postal Service and enforcement duties as well as operations and financial audits while living in Montgomery, Alabama. He eventually transferred to Memphis, Tennessee, where he performed operational and financial audits nationwide. In 1988 he was promoted to Program Manager of Operational Audits and retired in 1993. He then relocated to Yellville, Arkansas. He was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Yellville, Arkansas, and a member of The Elks, Lodge 1714.
Charlie began a love affair with fly fishing and enjoyed spending time on both the White River and Norfork Lake.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Linda; two brothers: Billy and Dale; two sons: Chris and Richard; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be set at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Have a Heart Animal Rescue Shelter.

Linda, My heart goes out to you in your time of loss. Charlie was a great person and I respected him for his knowledge and professionalism during my tenure as a Postal Inspector. Remember the good times from one who knows loss. He was a great person who was respected by all. He will be remembered by those of us who loved him. Rita
