Barbara Hilty Smith, 78, passed away April 06, 2017 in Batesville, Arkansas. She was born June 06, 1938 in Pandora, Ohio to Aaron and Margaret (Risser) Hilty. She was a graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School and Bowling Green State University. Barbara was employed several years as a high school librarian before she married Evert Smith of Mountain View, Arkansas in 1970. She was a member of Vine Street Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville, Arkansas.
She is survived by a step son, Simon Smith; a daughter Amy Smith (Rick) Lawrence and their three sons, Craig,Samuel, and Daniel Smith all of Mountain View, Arkansas. One sister in law, Vida Hilty of Pandora, Ohio; five step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, a grand niece and nephew, many cousins, and a host of friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by two brothers, Clair and Paul Hilty.
Pallbearers are Craig Smith, Samuel Smith, Rick Lawrence, and Michael Blakenship.
Visitation will take place at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View Arkansas Monday April 10, 2017 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. Graveside services will be held Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Brother Larry Howard officiating.
Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.
Barbara Smith was a one of a kind, wonderful lady. I have spent the last 14 years taking care of her and was very fortunate to develop a special friendship with her. I am so very sorry for the loss of this great lady. She will be dearly missed by all. Many prayers for comfort for her sweet family at this difficult time. God bless you all.
Just wanted the family to know i was an honor and a privilege to take care of your mother. I learned many things and shared many life events with her. May she rest in peace, and God be with you all.
