1937-2017 JERRY JOE MALONE
Jerry Joe Malone of Houston, Texas (formerly of West Helena, Arkansas) passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2017, surrounded by his family. He fought a short and a courageous battle with Alzheimers and its associated complications.

During his long and fascinating career Jerry was awarded for working under arduous conditions, traveling to every part of the globe with the Foreign Service and experiencing highlights that most people only get to dream about.
After an early retirement he settled in Houston, Texas. Jerry continued to travel, especially to Australia to visit his three children and three grandchildren.
Jerry will be remembered by his family for his quiet resolve, love of independence, thirst for knowledge, quick wit, love for and service to his nation.
He is survived by his daughter Sheila Jeanne Malone and sons Michael Joe Malone and Sean Jerry Malone of Sydney, Australia; grandchildren Ella Lesley Holland, Joel Kenneth Holland and Kieran Jerry Holland also of Sydney; sister Nancy Malone of Houston, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends around the world.

Dear friends,
Thank you for your kind messages about Dad. It's lovely to come back to this guestbook to see new messages I hadn't seen. I cant believe it's been almost two years since he passed. I'm thinking about him a lot this week, and we are going to cook up and enjoy a southern-style dinner in Sydney this Sunday 24th, in honour of Dad.
Love you, Dad
xxx Sheila

My condolences to the family.
I met Jerry during my Foreign Service assignment to El Salvador in the mid-80s. He was a great supervisor and friend who loved sharing stories about his previous assignments. Jerry was very well liked by the embassy staff. Senor Ma-lo-ne the locals called him.
I was happy for Jerry the day we said goodbye at the airport because he truly deserved ending that very stressful assignment. I will always remember Jerry's exemplary leadership during a long, hard day when San Salvador and especially the embassy were struck by an earthquake.
Rest in peace amigo viejo.

I remember your family fondly and was so impressed with Jerry's career. You were all so smart! I think my mother taught all of you at Woodruff. May God give you comfort and peace. I was in Jerry's class. Bette Wright Callaway
I only saw Jerry about three times when he would come home and look up Arnold. They met each other and roomed together while working at Mohawk. I know that Arnold thought the world of him and told me so many things about him. Maybe they will see each other in heaven. I like to think so anyway.
As you watch over us you will always will be loved and memories spent with you are never to be forgotten, they are cherished forever in our hearts.
i'll miss you Grandad and all the dvds you would send me.
i love you
