Mittie Jo Caldwell

of Salus, AR

July 2, 1931 - March 22, 2017

Mittie Jo Caldwell, 85, wife, mother, grandmother, friend & babysitter to many, everyone knew her as MawMaw, entered eternal life on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Her spirit is carried on by her 7 children, 26 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren and extended family and friends of every walk of life. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her during her 85 years. Among these lessons were call your kids every day, be a good listener, keep all secrets deep (Ha), and never pass up a good yard sale. Above all she kept a journal of her everyday life where she wrote about how she loved her family and friends.
Mittie Jo was born July 2, 1931 to Curtis and Ellie Jane Naylor in Peeltown, Texas. She married Elbert Caldwell, Jr. on July 2, 1947 and they were together 58 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and granddaughter Amanda Gayle Stepp. She leaves behind 2 sons Billy Dean (Starlet) and Larry (Cindy) Caldwell of Salus, 5 daughters, Peggy (Bill) Higgins of Ft. Smith, Mona (Keith) Russell of Hartman, Nancy (Dolen) Stepp of Salus, Marilyn (Jerry) Cowell of Clarksville, Kim Sparks of Salus, and many many grandchildren. As MawMaw would say ''Love you Lots''.
Visitation will be 6:00 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Roller-Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Salus Free Holiness Church, with Bro. David Willis, Bro. Mike Sawyer, and Bro. Robert Boen officiating. Burial will follow in the Salus Cemetery with Tim Higgins, Jokoby Sparks, Daniel Carey, Nathan Stepp, Brian Russell, Nathan Cowell, and Ashley Cowell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Brasel, Greg Jacuzzi, Michael Brown, Tony Hughes, Derrick Cantrell, Denton Killgore, and Tyler Oberste.

Not to many people have ever came into my life that left their mark. She was always so nice to me and my kids. My daughter, Becky, loved to go visit when she could. Ms. Cauldwell used to tell me thank you for letter her visit but for me it was the other way around. Thank you for showing my kids so much kindness and love in this world. Ms. Caldwell is an angel sent from heaven to spread love and show people how to be happy by being kind to one another. She will be greatly missed.

I guess her and Violet are going to eat all the fish they wasn't, how she loved it Marilyn when she could go to Catslpa and eat fish with you and your mom. There will never be anyone that can take her place, but it will get easier as time goes on. Your whole family is in our prayers!! Love you all!'n
