Byron is preceded in death by his parents, his only sister, Geneva Corbin, and four brothers, Leon Brumley, Gene Brumley, Everett Brumley, and Bruce Brumley.

Dear Susie and Family,
I was so very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was the kindest and sweetest boss I was privileged to have at BC/BS. He truly cared for his employees and I was so delighted in later years to meet you and your family and get to see him again! I know he will be greatly missed, but what a wonderful inspiration he has been to so many. Thinking of you all,
Sandy, Charlie and Alan Brown

Ms Louise & Susie, I was so sad when Daddy showed me this. Even though I was young, I can remember quite well spending time at your home. I remember what a kind & gentle man Mr Byron always was. Y'all are in our prayers. Love you.

Uncle Byron was dearly loved in our family. He was my dad's youngest brother and Dad loved him SO MUCH as did everyone in the family. We always looked forward to his visits because it was pleasant to be around him. His voice was pleasant and comforting and his words were always thoughtful. He made you feel good by just saying your name.

His name was Byron, pronounced BY-run. But we always mispronounced it with one syllable like iron with a B in front. But our abusive pronunciation didn’t take away from the elegance he gave to the name. I remember looking up to him as a child. He was a very charming tall man. I remember one moment when we had been at my grandma's (his mom’s) funeral and we were meeting afterwards. I saw him loosen his tie and I was so impressed by his mannerism in doing so I copied him. He noticed it and said "I see someone else is taking their tie off." Of course I didn't look as cool as he did with my clip on tie. But you see I still remember that small moment because when Byron gave you attention you had his complete wholesome attention. He made you feel like you were special. His whole soul seemed to rest where you were. I always felt that way with him. Later in life my wife and I would spend the night with him and Aunt Louise to catch a train in Malvern. They were so gracious and made us feel right at home. It was more than just making meals and accommodating us (waiting up for us when we got back when they knew that Amtrak would be late and we didn’t) it was again that pleasant soulfulness that rested with you as they spoke. It was Byron who set the tenor of their home with his godliness and elegant country charm. I'll never forget him and his sweet thoughtful soft spoken yet strong ways. He is an inspiration to me to walk with God. That’s ultimately what he was all about. God bless Louise, Susie, Joe, Jeff their spouses and all of Byron’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Much love and tears as I write this.

We express our sympathy in the loss of one whose life reflected love for the Lord. Louise, we were a young couple when you and Byron took us under your wings and mentored us. For this we will forever be thankful. Our love and prayers are with you and your family.

Mom & Dad (June & Vernon) are not able to contact you due to health reasons, but they want you to know that they love your family. Our loss is heaven's gain. Altho' our hearts grieve with you at Byron's loss, we also rejoice in his entry into heaven.
Cousin Susie, I always loved spending time with you and your family...your dad was always making us laugh. He always had that wonderful smile on his face and I'm pretty sure that was an impish twinkle he had in his eyes! We always had such a good time, even tho' Jeff & Joe made sure we did not get in their tree house! Your dad will remain in our hearts. Love to all the family, Teresa
