I was honored to take two classes with Gene while an undergrad (1962-1970). I occasioned to pass through Conway and see him out in his yard some years after he retired. I stopped and enjoyed a pleasant conversation with him. I will always appreciate what I learned from him while a student.

Another matter brought him to my memory so I searched and found his obituary. Thank you Gene.

Conway, and the world for that matter, lost a great talent with Gene Hatfield's death. I only met him once but I am so glad I had that opportunity. I am also privileged to have one of his watercolors hanging in my home - it is a treasure! May he rest in peace - as I watch the sunsets and sunrises I will envision Gene Hatfield helping God paint the skies!

Gene was my FIRST art teacher when I was an art major back in the 70's at UCA. He was both intimidating and inspirational to this student! A great teacher with a unique perspective on Life. You all are remembered in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear family of cousin Gene--Always liked to stop and visit with Gene when we were in Conway, always enjoyed seeing his new works of art with crafts from yesteryear. His art work at the Mt. Vernon cemetery can never be replaced.
A wedding gift painting from Gene is continued in our home. and so reminds us of cousin Gene.
