November 20, 1918 - February 1, 2017

Avaleen Hargrave Thorn of Malvern passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 98 years. She was born November 20, 1918 in Mountain Home, AR, the daughter of Grover Cleveland (Buck) and Myrtle Brewer Hargrave. She married Roy E. Thorn April 4, 1942 in Harrison, AR and moved to Malvern in 1956. Avaleen was a member of First Baptist Church of Malvern for 61 years.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Thorn of Malvern; son, Dale Thorn of Eagle River, Alaska; grandchildren, Scott Thorn of North Pole, Alaska and ChristieThorn (Chris) Leggett of Vienna, VA; great-granddaughter, Greysen Leggett; sisters-in-law, Patricia Hargrave, Maxine Hargrave, Frances Elmore, and Elsie Johns, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Odus, Opie, and Robert Hargrave, and sisters-in-law, Elva Miller and Lucille Hargrave.

A time of visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Malvern with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at the church officiated by Kem Reeder. Pallbearers are James Stinnett, Gerald Skinner, Harold Kenney, Mickey Garrett, Darrel Massey, and Larry Collins.

Interment will be held Tuesday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. at Baxter Memorial Gardens in Mountain Home, AR.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Mr Thorn and your family. You and Mrs. Thorn were two of my favorite people at the center - Mrs. Thorn was such a pretty lady and always smiling.
